Detailed Proposal to Improve Ranked System – Prioritize Individual Performance
Yes, I've wrote the following text using an AI platform, but the main idea is from my thoughts and notes, hope EA and Respawn can give a look at it. Dear Respawn Entertainment & Apex Legends Development Team, I am a dedicated Apex Legends player currently sitting in Diamond IV during Season 28 (April 2026). I have been playing since the early seasons and truly love the game, but I have identified a structural issue in the Ranked system that is negatively affecting competitive integrity and player enjoyment, especially for solo and duo queue players. 1. The Core Problem: Performance vs. Visible Rank Mismatch Passive climbing / Carry dependency: It is too easy to reach and stay in Diamond+ by being carried or through low-impact third-parties, without the mechanical skill, movement, or decision-making expected at that tier. MMR Friction: Matchmaking frequently pairs players with the exact same visible rank (e.g. Diamond IV) but drastically different real skill levels (some playing at a clear Gold/Platinum mechanical level). Low individual accountability: The current system heavily rewards team placement and kills/assists regardless of personal contribution. This creates inconsistent lobbies, frustration for skilled solo players, and devalues the meaning of Ranked badges. 2. Proposed Solution: “Skill-First” Ranked Formula I propose evolving the existing Season 28 RP system by shifting 55-60 % of RP progress toward verifiable individual performance, while keeping the Battle Royale identity intact. New RP Formula: RP Net = [Team Positioning RP] + [(Kills + Assists) × Value per Position × Individual Multiplier] + [Personal Damage Bonus] – [Entry Cost] Key Components: Team Positioning RP: Keep exactly as it is today (+125 for 1st place, +95 for 2nd, etc.). Survival and smart rotations must still be rewarded. Kills + Assists: Keep the current scaling values based on final squad position (higher value in top 5). Individual Multiplier (the core filter): Calculated as a rolling average every 10 matches. Compares your Personal Damage Average (plus weighted damage in final-circle fights) against the expected average for your current visible rank. Range: 0.75× (underperformers) → 1.35× (consistent high performers). This makes it statistically much harder to climb or stay in a rank you are not actively contributing to. Personal Damage Bonus: +1 RP for every 300 damage dealt (capped at +40 RP per match). The bonus scales higher the better your final placement, heavily rewarding high-impact damage in late-game fights instead of early poke or cheap third-party finishes. 3. Strengthening Hidden Skill MMR & Matchmaking To complement the RP changes, refine the existing hidden Skill MMR: Primary metrics: Damage Per Minute (DPM), Percentage of Team Damage dealt, adjusted K/D by position, and the Individual Multiplier from the last 10–20 games. Clustering: Within the same visible rank (e.g. Diamond IV), prioritize matchmaking players with similar Individual Multipliers and hidden MMR. This would dramatically reduce the “Diamond badge but Platinum skill” problem in random queues. 4. Expected Benefits Ranks become a true reflection of individual skill rather than time played or carry luck. Solo and duo players get much fairer and more consistent games. Players are incentivized to improve their own mechanics and game sense. Long-term increase in player retention and competitive health of the Ranked mode. I believe this would be one of the most impactful Ranked improvements since the current system was introduced. All the required data (damage, final-circle contribution, etc.) is already tracked by the game, so implementation is technically straightforward. Thank you for reading this detailed, data-driven proposal. I would be more than happy to provide match samples, my own stats, or discuss any part of it further. I only want Apex Legends to continue being the best battle royale experience possible. Best regards,7Views0likes0Commentsbring back the old wraith heirloom spin animation

Lack of Linux support is not a technical limitation—it's a bug in your approach to inclusivity and innovation. Refusing to support Linux is not just a step backward; it's a leap off a cliff. The future of gaming is open, and platforms like Steam Deck prove that Linux is where players are heading. Blocking it under the guise of anti-cheat is disingenuous. Claiming Linux is insecure or a cheat haven is nothing more than an excuse to mask your inability to develop or integrate a robust anti-cheat solution for it. Security through obscurity is not a strategy—it's surrender. If your anti-cheat can't function without kernel dominance, then it's flawed by design. Demand transparency. Demand fairness. Demand support for the platform that respects user freedom and the future of gaming.26Views0likes0CommentsMatchmaking
Honestly Apex matchmaking feels kinda off right now because as a casual player it keeps putting me against people who barely miss shots and play like they’re in a tournament or something. I get that skill-based matchmaking is supposed to make things fair but it doesn’t really feel fair when I’m just trying to chill and improve and I’m getting lasered every fight before I can even react. Apex is pretty much the only game I take somewhat serious, but I’m not grinding 24/7 like those players, so the system should do a better job separating high-level sweats from regular players like me. It just makes the game frustrating instead of fun and thats probably pushing a lot of casual players away, which isnt good for the game long term either. The thing is, this is literally the only game I play. I dont jump between different shooters or grind multiple titles, Apex is it for me. And I actually love this game fr, like I enjoy the movement, the gunplay, the whole vibe of it (missed the lores of characters tho). That’s why it sucks even more when the matchmaking makes it feel like I don’t belong in my own lobbies. I’m trying to get better over time, not get deleted in 2 seconds every fight. I’m not saying remove skill-based matchmaking completely, but it needs to be adjusted so casual players who actually love the game can enjoy it without constantly going up against players that play like pros. If the experience keeps feeling like this, its gonna push away people like me who genuinely want to keep playing and supporting the game, but just cant keep up with that level every single match.wisdomisfree1 day agoSeasoned Newcomer41Views2likes5CommentsBot Royale is no longer beginner-friendly due to matchmaking issues
In Bot Royale mode, experienced players are being matched into lobbies intended for beginners, which defeats the original purpose of the mode. As a result, new or low-skill players are often eliminated early by highly skilled players, making the experience feel no different from standard casual matches. Bot Royale was presumably designed as a low-pressure environment for new players to learn the game, mechanics, and gunplay. However, the current matchmaking undermines that purpose. I would like to suggest the following improvements: - Restrict experienced or high-level players from entering Bot Royale - Implement stricter skill-based matchmaking within this mode - Ensure the mode remains a beginner-friendly environment Please reconsider the intended role of Bot Royale and adjust the matchmaking accordingly.28Views3likes2CommentsBring back music packs from events

I don’t know if this is just a problem in regions without servers. I’m a South African playing on 200 ping, and 1 in every 3 matches I experience insane packet loss and even higher ping than I am already on, even with a stable connection. When I try to restart my game, I can’t rejoin. Please fix your game.11Views0likes0CommentsHey Devs

Do something about this European server...
The game hasn't been enjoyable here from noon until late at night for a very long time. You're constantly playing with the same people, and a lot of them are simply cheating. Lots of new accounts with ungodly aim. Disable SBMM in public and Wildcard matches, or divide matchmaking into just two groups – brand new accounts with very low skill and the rest. How is it possible that Apex has been growing in population for four months, and I'm playing with the same people and new accounts that are blatantly cheating every day? Do something about this and fix this broken matchmaking so it's enjoyable for everyone. Nobody wants to play "pred rankeds" or ALGS in pubs or Wildcard. Get your act together.vVv_Bjoergen_vVv2 days agoSeasoned Ace28Views0likes1CommentThe steam controller/config movement exploits need patching
[REMOVED] is a link to a video which shows a form of strafing that is becoming more and more common in games especially with legends like Octane and Horizon who both benefit from movement advantages such as speed boost for Octane and in air movement speed boost for Horizon. Why is this strafing a problem? Me, as a casual find this strafing ever so difficult to track and to put it straight, it's cheating. It involves the use of steam config to allow you to constantly do the act of tap strafing but in all directions at a quick pace. This movement trick also allows players to engage in combat at the same time so you end up fighting somebody flying across your screen shooting at you who's ever so hard to track in the first place. Why would this be patched? As I said previously, it's straight up cheating. No matter how well you can track it or not, it is cheating. It needs fixing and this will only become more of a problem the more people that start doing it and "learning" it. It's also completely unfair to legitimate players and those who are on consoles who can not do this trick. I really hope this gets looked into as it's becoming ever so fustrating to fight against in games and it does ruin the fun for me especially in games modes like the current wildcard event. Edit: Removed link showing exploit. This is against the EA Forums rules. -CMunderchosen2 days agoSeasoned Novice51Views1like3Comments
