One room, One week, One theme

There will be a theme given for the week, and during that week simmers can post rooms related to that theme. Come to this thread and post pictures of your room! It will not be a contest where there is a winner. The simming community is the winner because we all then have new rooms to download and use in our games/builds ! I just want to encourage everyone to post rooms. Your rooms will all be very warmly welcomed here! It will be interesting to see the different rooms that sims create based on the chosen theme! You have sent everyone from the office home since you only have one more client to interview. You want to make sure everyone gets home safely before it really gets bad on the streets. Since it is Friday, this means a slow weekend in front of the fireplace with a good book. You smile at the thought as you make more hot cocoa with marshmallows. The bell on the office door jingles gently as someone enters, and you turn around to greet your client. He is a very tall and thin man with hair so black it shines blue. His eyes are a dazzling blue, and his lips have a ruby glow, probably from the cold blowing winds outside. He never left a name, so you are curious about him as he carefully stomps the snow off his shoes on the mat before walking towards you. You walk towards him with a piping hot mug of cocoa and greet him warmly. He returns the smile and follows you into the inner office. Once you are both seated and sipping cocoa he begins to talk. "This cocoa sure hits the spot!" he exclaims merrily. "What a delightful welcome! My name is Jack Frost-well, I should say it is Jonathan, but I have been called Jack since birth. I run a bar in the next town. I should say I ran one. It was very popular for years, but a tornado wiped it out last summer. I was devastated for a while, and I just could not see myself rebuilding over there. So I finally decided to come over here and build a new business." He takes another slurp of cocoa and sighs in appreciation. "What kind of new business are you looking to start?" you ask patiently, happy he likes your cocoa. "Well, that is the thing," he admits wearily. "I don't really know. My family have had many businesses, in the past as well as today. I want to do something different. I have two real loves. Now don't laugh! Art and dogs!" He chuckles. You join in his laughing at two such separate loves then prompt him, "Have you decided which you want to pursue?" "Absolutely not!" he says cheekily. "That part I am leaving up to you! I have $197,500 to spend. Make me a kennel or an art gallery, whichever you like. I will get the necessary licenses once I have seen it. The only two requirements I have are a large office with a private bathroom for myself with loads of green in it and a large break room with entertainment as well as food warming and a fridge. Employees deserve the best, in my opinion!" "That is very generous!" you exclaim, awed by the thought. You know many people who think of employees last, so it is good to hear someone of a different cloth. You continue to question him until you see a real trend towards one of the businesses. The snow is already ankle deep when you both finally leave and part in the parking lot. Your mind is swirling with ideas as you drive cautiously home in the blinding snow. The brief: -make either an art gallery OR a kennel to board animals. -budget is $197,500, including the price of the lot. -include a parking lot; landscaping; public restrooms; a large break room with entertainment, a way to heat food, and a refrigerator. -include things applicable to the business (art for sale, kennels with part fencing for animals, etc). -include a large private office with its own ensuite and shades of green! -include an entrance area with some seating and a desk or cashier area. Note: For those without any pet expansions, you can build a basic kennel with children’s toys as squeaky toys, there is no need to include animals. CC is allowed as well. The Room Challenge: -budget $35,500. -create the break room with entertainment, a food warming device, and a fridge. The Sim Challenge: -create Jack Frost and give his talents, likes, dislikes, etc. -show all his clothing options. -show him looking over his new business! I love seeing how creative people can be and I have been a part of some wonderful competitions on these forums. I could only dream this competition becomes as popular as them but for now we will see how it goes. My goal with this challenge is to see people improve, I started out having no idea how to build anything but a square box house. I started entering competitions and never dreamed I could build some of the things I have today, though I still have a lot to learn. I see a lot of builds on the gallery that look wonderful on the outside but are lacking on the inside with decor or simply play ability with sims so this competition is all about Quality. There is 3 parts to the Quality Control Contests Quality Control Contest (Bi-weekly/fortnightly) Quality Control Monthly Contest QC Create A Room Contest (Bi-weekly/fortnightly) QC Competiton Guide If you are new to the competitions or thinking about entering I highly suggest checking out the QC Competition Guide, it has tons of helpful information that pretty much explains what we look for in entries. You can find it here: QC Competition Guide PRACTICE CHALLENGES Quality Control Practice Challenges are to help people learn about all aspects of building, decorating and landscaping. He lay there on the hospital bed—a shriveled prune of a man from what he used to be. Seven years of chemo did that to a person. I swallowed, stroking his arm. “But Dad...how can I be both parents to Bri?” “You have to be. Promise.” Biting my lip, I thought about Mom and how she’d ditched us as soon as she found another man who wasn’t sick and kids who didn’t cramp her style. “I won’t be Mom.” My voice was harsh. I didn’t mean for it to come out that way, but I guess the bitterness hadn’t gone away even after six years. “Then be her father, Alex. She’s only ten. She has eight more years until she can live on her own. Y-You can work as a mechanic at your current job until then. That should earn enough to get by. After that, you can go to college. You’ll only be twenty-six. Not too old.” He squeezed my hand. “Promise.” I wanted to escape this nightmare. Seeing my father slowly deteriorate over the years had taken its toll on me, but here I was facing losing him for good and now, he was asking me to take over instead of shipping Brianna to my grandparents overseas. But I was only eighteen. How could I raise a ten year old by myself? I heard the words, “I promise,” come out of my mouth anyway. Tears stung my eyes. Dad couldn’t see me like this. It would hurt him too much. I had to be brave for him. And for my sister. Wiping my eyes and nose, I said, “Don’t worry. I’ll be her dad. I’ll make sure Bri’s taken care of.” Dad lifted the side of his mouth. “Thanks, Alex. I have no doubt you’ll do a great job. Hey... if I hadn’t said this to you in a while...” He covered my hand in his. “I love you, kid.” I smiled. “I love you, too, Dad.” Turning away, I wiped the tears streaming down my face. After the funeral, Bri and I said our last goodbyes to our father. I kissed his cold withered cheek before they closed up the casket. I’ll never forget the loud grinding of the hydraulic shovel, digging a six-foot hole in minutes. They set his casket in and dropped dirt on top and then it was over. All the visitors hugged us with gloomy looks and one by one they said their condolences and vanished. It was me and Bri. Alone. “Come on, Bri. It’s time to go home.” I wanted to get out of that dreadful cemetery. “How can we go without Daddy?” “I’m taking care of you now. Don’t worry.” “But...you’re not him. Who will tuck me in and read stories to me at night? Who will get rid of the monsters under the bed?” Holding my sister, I whispered, “I’ll be your dad from now on. No matter what happens, I’ll take care of you.” Bri looked into my eyes with her sad face. “You’ll never be Daddy.” She was right, of course, so I couldn’t argue. I only patted her on the shoulder and told her to come with me anyway. In the months that followed, I noticed I couldn’t earn enough money to keep us in food let alone pay all the bills. So I sold the house, car, anything that we didn’t need, then moved us to an area we could afford in Oasis Springs. Luckily, I found an old garage with a living area on the top floor. Nothing fancy, but it had four bedrooms, a living area and a kitchen. Plenty for me and my sister. And then I could have my own business fixing cars. It was pricey. I couldn’t buy it outright, but the landlord let me sublet it from him and he was more than happy that I could use the garage as it had been when he was young. All the renters before never used it. We could do this. My stomach plunged as I saw Mr. Richardson stroll into my garage. I hadn’t been able to overnight the part for his car and I knew he was going to be livid. The Richardsons basically own Oasis Springs and even though I’d never dealt with any of them before, their behavior was widely known. I was shell-shocked that his personal assistant had even called and brought his corvette to me in the first place. I thought rich guys used dealers, but I wasn’t going to argue with him. I needed the cash. What I didn’t expect was for the heir to the Richardson legacy—Knight Richardson himself—to pick it up in person. My heart beat like a jackrabbit getting chased by a fox. “H-Hello, Mr. Richardson,” I said, stalling. “Hey, kid. Just picking up my car.” He shot me a bright smile which only made me even more nervous. “Um...about that...it isn’t ready.” He arched an eyebrow. “What do you mean it isn’t ready? Didn’t you promise my assistant I could have it by today?” I flung my hands around, hoping to get my point across. “You see, I would have had it done. It’s actually easy to fix, but the part...it didn’t ship like they said it would. I’ll have it done by tomorrow.” Without another glance at me, Richardson marched into the shop area and tried to open the door to his car. When he couldn’t, he yelled like a spoiled two year old who was told he wouldn’t be getting any ice cream, pulling at his hair. “I’m sorry, Mr. Richardson. The car is locked and without the motherboard working, electronically it’s fried. A new one will fix everything. You’ve just got to wait one more day.” “I don’t have one more day. I need my car now.” “Don’t you have another car? I know your family is rich and...” He waved his arms angrily, “What would a snot nosed punk like you know anything about my family?” Plum. I knew I shouldn’t have mentioned his family. I didn’t like the guy but I needed the money. Kissing butt was the only remedy in this situation even though I hated to kowtow to people like him. But I was in the service business. Sometimes that was the name of the game. I backpedaled. “Listen, you are more than welcome to tow it somewhere else, but no matter where you take it, I can promise you it will take more time. Another garage hasn’t even ordered the part yet. The shipping company guaranteed it would show up tomorrow.” He jumped to his feet and shook a furious finger in my face. “Okay, punk, but if you don’t have it to me by tomorrow, I will personally rearrange your face. Is that clear?” I winced. “Yes, sir.” He stomped out of the shop, slamming the gate. Wham! I could only hope that plum part would come in the next day. It's story time!! :D Welcome to the home of all of my stories! I hope you enjoy them. Here are the stories you can find here: CURRENT Delicious Dishes & Dreams (aka, "Pruetts in 3D") This is a story I'm writing for the Restaurant Challenge. It is a Pruett Family Legacy spin-off. You could also think of it as an alternate ending of Pruett Family Legacy. Jonathan Pruett always wanted to be a famous restauranteur with restaurants all around the world. Life throughs lots of curve balls at him. Will he be able to accomplish this dream? COMPLETED Keeping Up With the Joneses (Completed May 2019) This is a neighborhood rotation. Things aren’t what they seem in the Courtyard Lane neighborhood of Willow Creek. The seemingly quiet, middle class neighborhood is wrought with secrets, pretentiousness, and envy. It all started the day the Jones family moved in. Discovering Juliana (Completed September 2018) A young, foreign girl is forced to emigrate to Willow Creek to escape the poverty and violence of her homeland. She does not speak the local language and must learn how to survive on her own. Pruett Family Legacy (Completed February 2016) Xavier Pruett left home attempting to prove his mother wrong by not going to college and still being successful. He took the inheritance from his father's death and bought a plot of land in Willow Creek. He got a job and looked for a wife as he embarked upon a journey to forge a successful family legacy. From humble beginnings, the Pruetts rose from being just another family to becoming legendary pillars of the community. Crazy Brady's Boot Camp (Season 1 Completed March 2016) Six contestants embark upon a four week fitness challenge with celebrity trainer Brady Pruett (generation 7 heir in Pruett Family Legacy), his wife, Viviana Harmon, and the host, chef, and coach, Sugar Maple Bough. Each week, the audience (you, the reader) will vote for the top three contestants who deserve to remain at The Lodge. One contestant will be immune, and one of the other two with the fewest votes will go home. F.I.S.H. (Completed January 2018) In this Pruett Family Legacy spin-off, the Sims Intelligence Agency (S.I.A.) recruits a newlywed man to track down some local henchman of a Sims trafficking organization. He has to live a double life as he discovers which one of his friends is working for the trafficker. He gets used to having alibis and cover stories with everyone except his wife who is very attached to him. The real is not ridding the world of evil; it's how to keep his wife content without blowing his cover. ONGOING Balderdash These are the untold stories of my Sims we don’t know well or haven’t seen. The titles of these stories are words, known and unknown, and the stories attempt to explain/define said word directly or abstractly. PERMANENT HIATUS The Wonder Kingdom In this Pruett Family Legacy spin-off, Leliana thought the government was still after her and convinced Devan that they should leave town. They found a new life in Newcrest after they made a run for it under the pretense of their long honeymoon. See what's in store for them as they experience the life they always wanted together. I'm doing the Random Challenge by @midnitetech, and I also made up a challenge called The Minimalist Challenge. Here are the guidelines if you'd like to try it! The first episode explains the guidelines in more detail and how I actually came up with this. 1. Create a Sim with three of the following traits: creative, genius, gloomy, goofball, hot-headed, romantic, self-assured, bookworm, geek, perfectionist, childish, clumsy, insane, lazy, loves the outdoors, neat, slob, squeamish, bro, evil, family oriented, good, hates children, loner, mean, noncommittal, outgoing 2. Select an aspiration from one of these categories: deviance, love, family, nature 3. Move your Sim onto any vacant lot and build a house and furnish it however you want with only these items: bed, dresser, couch/love seat, fridge, kitchen sink, stove, grill (if you want), fire pit, trash can, wood bench, and an island (width of at least 2). 4. Work on your handiness and gardening skills to survive! GOALS: Live completely off the land. This means your Sim will must not have a job. Your Sim will feed him/herself, furnish the house, and pay bills with the works of their hands. (e.g. produce and items from the wood bench) Spend as little money as possible. You may want to track your finances to add a level of difficulty. Only purchase things that your Sim absolutely needs or will be helpful to them. (leaving this open for interpretation) Furnish your house with handmade furniture Prepare only food that you catch, grow, or harvest (turn on "fresh ingredients," and only prepare foods that you have all the ingredients for) (optional) Find a like-minded spouse (e.g. with similar type traits--watch video (around 6:20) for clarity). TIPS: Get your Sim to level 2 of the handiness skill as soon as possible and craft plant pots/planters and get a garden going. Also, catch a fish the first day to have food for the next day. Get your Sim to level 2 of the cooking skill to grill fruit and baked potatoes. It would be most beneficial for your Sim to live on a lot that is near a public bathroom for easy accessibility. If you want, you may purchase a portable shower and place it outside. (going to the gym a few times a day will get really old really fast!) The long lifespan is probably your best bet, but for a real challenge, try the normal lifespan. If you are doing the optional goal to find a spouse, you may turn aging off until the house is completely furnished and you are ready to get married if you would like. CONCESSIONS: When your Sim gets to level 5 and 10, give him/her something he/she really wants! (e.g. that pesky pool whim!!)

One Month One World One Year Personal Challenge (Complete!)
Have you ever admired those who start a New Year doing a one photo per day contest? I have, but I've never tried it. I had an idea pop into my head on New Years Eve for a challenge similar to those, only using TS4. So I put together something on the fly and I hope it works out. I'm calling it the One Month One World One Year Challenge. It's a work in progress, but one thing will always stay the same. I will post one photo of my Sim's adventures during a gaming session per real life day for 2021. Basic Rules/Guidelines: *Note - Work in Progress, subject to change. Updated December 9, 2021 One Photo post Per Real Life Day on the forum in this thread One World per Real Life month *Note - See schedule of Worlds in spoiler below After three Real Life months have passed, my Sim will age up to Young Adult for four months, Adult for four months and finally age up to an Elder for December. *Note - Timeline posted in spoiler below. Optional: How long your Sim stays in each life stage is at your own discretion. This is just what I will be personally doing for my own challenge Sim. My Sim will start out Rags to Riches style. *Note - Optional: May use 20K starting funds and your Teen may take odd jobs and/or have a part-time job. Aging off until it's time to age up. The first World will be Mt. Komorebi, progressing backwards in time as packs were released, with one exception. The last world will be Sulani where my Sim will retire as an elder. *Note - Newcrest may be designated a 'neutral' world and venues placed there for your Sim to use at your discretion. Optional: You may use Worlds in any order, but I suggest Britechester (if you own the Discover Univerity EP) as the World to live in when your Teen ages up to a Young Adult so they may attend University to fulfill the world aspiration. *Note - My elder's last world was switched to Henford-on-Bagley. Vacation worlds are not used in this challenge as your Sim can't properly live there without a Mod, only rent for up to a week at a time. Optional: Sims may take a vacation if they have enough simoleans. However, rental lots in residential worlds should not be used until the world where they have been placed has been previously played. Any aspirations released with a world will be the priority aspiration(s) to be fulfilled first. If none are available, a base game aspiration will be chosen. May also choose a base game aspiration if you have finished aspirations that came with a world where your Sim is currently living. *Note - May also aspiration hop if you wish to build Satisfaction points. I just prefer to do only the aspirations for the current world one at a time. My Sim may marry and have children. Aging up children is at your discretion. If I plan to continue the challenge, I will make sure the 'heir' is at least a teen before the end of the year. A Teen 'heir' may carry on the challenge starting in 2022 and begin with any aspirations not fulfilled. IF, I actually make it that far! :o Your challenge Sim MUST be a Teen to officially begin this challenge and post on the thread. The only cheating allowed will be during the Teen lifespan if they are in danger of flunking school and could be taken away. This cheating entails buying school projects and/or increasing their grade. But these two things should only be done after all vacation days have been taken, their grade has dropped from low performance or a warning is given. Optional: Teen may go to school The beginning of each new month/world may start from scratch Rags to Riches style. Optional: My Sim may keep any personal possessions they want, sell the rest and bulldoze the house. They will then use simoleans from the sale and accumulated household funds to build or download from the Gallery a new house in the new world. If my Sim dies at any point, it's game over unless a spouse or offspring is available to bring them back to life. Optional: Oldest child or Spouse may continue the challenge. OR You may bring back your Sim by not saving or using a prior save to continue the challenge instead. Occult states may be removed after they have left the world where those aspirations were fulfilled. If a new world is released with a new pack any time during 2021, I have the option to swap that world with another prior released world. If that happens, any offspring will continue with the exchanged world in 2022 first. I'll give myself a break if I miss any days due to internet outages, vacations/holidays or sickness. In those cases, I'll try to post one photo for every missed real life day the next day possible. Extra photos may be posted here in a spoiler at the end of the daily post or in the Last Screenshot or Favorite Screenshot threads. But the main One Photo Per Real Life Day for the challenge will always be posted here along with a (hopefully) short synopsis of the prior night/day's gameplay session progress. Rags to Riches Teens may use cell phones at your discretion. Autonomy Off *Note - Optional: May use any Autonomy setting you wish May travel to other worlds for Festivals, Dates, Parties, etc. But, only if invited. *Note - Optional: Only allowed if the world where the activity is happening has already been played. Any Satisfaction points earned may be used to buy and use any reward traits, with the exception of the Money tree seed. While teens do not participate in the Lottery, YA, Adult and Elder lifespans are not allowed to buy a ticket either. Beginning season and the length of days is your choice. I started in Summer with a 14 day season length. May participate in all default Holidays, (except Lottery) modify them, and/or add your own. I might modify Harvestfest before it happens to remove the Gnomes part of this holiday. This is optional for anyone else trying the challenge. Welcome to the Sims 4 Storyteller Group (now a subset of the SimsWriters.com community), where anyone who uses Sims 4 for their stories is welcome to join the discussions and promote their stories. This is also a place to share tips, give and receive feedback, and network with others. (We will soon add another thread for the Sims 3 storytellers in the community.) How to share your Sims 4 Story Once you've got a story to share, please post here and provide the following details: Story Title: Author Name: *this can be your username, a pen name, etc. and will be posted in the shared stories list Story URL: the link to your story Brief Description: up to 140 characters describing your story (like a Tweet or something, don't include the link or title in the description though) Story Avatar: you can provide an image 150 X 150 pixels (standard avatar size) to represent your story in the shared stories list Genre: the primary genre your story falls under, such as Legacy, Romance, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Comedy, etc. Only one genre, so you must list the predominant one. If your story is in any way based on the Legacy, the genre is Legacy. For lesser known challenges, please just post Challenge as the genre.

The Build Newcrest Challenge is a basis for this story along with some ideas from I’m a Lover Challenge to add drama. I will be loosely following the rules of the two challenges as I merge them together. The rules will be a guideline for the story so there could be some spoilers - but probably not too many as I may mix it up depending upon how I see the next generation going. Ben Murdock, the 'founder', is the second son of the Heroine of Starting Over. You don't have to read that story to understand what it going on in this one. I started the QC challenges with a goal to see people improve, I started out having no idea how to build anything but a square box house. I started entering competitions and never dreamed I could build some of the things I have today, though I still have a lot to learn. I see a lot of builds on the gallery that look wonderful on the outside but are lacking on the inside with decor or issues with play ability with sims so these challenges are all about Quality. There is 3 parts to the Quality Control Contests Quality Control Contest (Bi-weekly/fortnightly) QC Create A Room Contest (Bi-weekly/fortnightly) This Quality Control Monthly - Just For Fun QC Competiton Guide If you are new to the competitions/challenges I highly suggest checking out the QC Competition Guide, it has tons of helpful information that pretty much explains what we look for in entries.
