Reposting - Sims Marketplace is a Money Grab. How do Simmers cope?
Reposting this because it got taken down which I felt was unfair. This topic is a VITAL PART OF EVERYONE'S GAMEPLAY FOR THE FUTURE AND DESERVES A SPOTLIGHT. I want to start this discussion by saying that I support those that create CC / Mods for the Sims. I have been a participant of using CC since Sims 2 (playing since The Sims) and I know how HARD those that create for this franchise to be more expansive, creative, and more well-rounded. THAT BEING SAID. Sims 4 Marketplace and their new Makers program is a RIDICULOUS MONEY GRAB. DO WE NOT (AS SIMMERS) continue to purchase into a franchise that hasn't done nearly enough upgrading a game over 10 years old? Is there a reason this team doesn't focus on repairing, remodeling, and remolding what they've created to be better, more functional, and more enjoyable for those that have invested into this franchise? Isn't the Merch store enough for them? Isn't our continued pre-purchases, kit purchases (for SO FEW ITEMS WITH LITTLE TO NO FUNCTIONALITY), etc. not enough????? Now we must buy "Sims currency" in order to feel like we have the full capacity of this game? Is no one upset? Has my fandom, love, and investment not been enough for you to not turn into a corporate devil that's looking to drain my pockets in a world built against the average person? Sims used to be a franchise I loved that helped me escape and realize dreams the real world can't provide for many of us for a multitude of reasons. Now, it just feels like the Sims is selling out and needs my name on the dotted line. I won't sign. I'm tired of sinking funds into a franchise that only seems to care about my enjoyment without respecting the input of those that dedicate hours and YEARS to plying the Sims. Everything doesn't need a paywall or a subscription. We should be able to enjoy the game we've purchased without feeling excluded because funds aren't enough to get the newest latest thing that THEY HAVEN'T EVEN CREATED!!! Just because they're working with Creators doesn't mean they aren't just trying to get paid too. They're upset that a lot of their influencers and Sims creators aren't happy with them and they're looking for someone else to buy something from them just to ignore the problem. This isn't the franchise I grew up with. These aren't the adventures I want to play anymore. I'm hoping people see this and see the forest for the trees as it were. They're distracting from the issue at hand and while I have loved this franchise for so long, I cannot continue to support things that don't align with my values. We deserve better gaming. Thank you to those that previously responded to my post. I have edited it to avoid violating guidelines. May this discussion enlighten those creating for us players.beelinebritt12 hours agoSeasoned Rookie19Views0likes1CommentShould this really be considered custom content ?
A lot of people are debating about free cc or monetization. What the creators are doing is making content to Ea for purchase. That's the same thing they did with Creator kits. The only difference is that creators can decide how many items or how much each set will cost now. Also that were using a virtual currency instead of cash. So should this really be consider custom content? If they are using official tools and working with Ea to make this ?Horrorgirl615 hours agoSeasoned Ace119Views1like9CommentsMoola prices
Hi, For example in the case if a kit cost 500 Moola Overpriced level $2.49 USD for 200 Moola : Paid 3 times = $7.47 spent to get a $4.99 kit + 100 Moola left (50% more expensive) Standard level $4.99 USD for 500 Moola : $4.99 kit $9.99 USD for 1,000 Moola : $9.99 Stuff Pack (but $0.01 wasted if you take 2 kits) Discount level $24.99 USD for 2,600 Moola : 5 kits + 100 Moola left. Paid 5 times = 25 kits + 1 kit (for free) (4% off, $5 discount for $125 spent) $49.99 USD for 5,500 Moola : 11 kits for the price of 10 (9% off, $5 discount for $50 spent) TS3 Store had (for example Hidden Springs world is at 2000 SimPoints) : $7 for 1000 SimPoints : literally $10 of content (30% off, $3 discount) $14 for 2040 SimPoints : $20 (30% off, $6 discount) $28 for 5000 SimPoints : $50 (44% off, $22 discount) $56 for 10600 SimPoints : $106 (47% off, $50 discount) $112 for 24360 SimPoints : $244 (54% off, $132 discount) Right now Moola feels more expensive than SimPoints in particular if the content cost 1000 Moola.
