It was already disabled when I went to disable it
I’ve moved it to the desktop and tried to relaunch it but it’s still frozen
@ellamaree8, have you restarted your computer? This may help close out some files that may think the game is still running. Next, after restarting, try resetting Origin before starting up the game. Here is the link on how to do so.

Once you reset Origin, you will need to check your Preferences and insure that Origin In Game is turned off as well as "Save to iCloud" disabled.
Please report back here and let us know if this has solved your problem.
@Tremayne4260 Thank you for this! I've just given it a go and it hasn't worked unfortunately. However when I go to force quit sims 4 (the only way to close it when its frozen), it doesn't come up with application unresponsive now
Please can you provide more information about your Mac. Instructions on how to do so here - http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612396/highlight/true#M162
If your Mac has NVIDIA graphics you may need to update the driver manually. There was an issue with High Sierra and NVIDIA GPUs a while ago which was fixed by updating the driver through NVIDIA's site.
Here is some info on my mac, as requested 🙂
macOS High Sierra
Version 10.13.6
iMac (21.5 inch, late 2013)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
No NVIDIA graphics, that's good 🙂
Could you try this:
- In your Applications folder right click on the Sims 4 app and select Show Package Contents.
- Navigate to Contents > Mac OS.
- Right click on The Sims 4 and select Move to Trash. Don't drag the file as it will only move an alias and leave the original in place. If there is another file in the folder, The Sims 4.par, leave it alone.
- Now open Origin, click on The Sims 4 in your Games Library and click on Download.
Unfortunately that didnt work either 😞 It still got stuck on the loading screen, so I tried just clicking the logo once, then the spinning wheel of doom came up and I had to switch screens out of the game and force quit it. It came up with Application Not Responding again if that means anything.
I appreciate all the help @Bluebellflora

☹️ Could you please set up a new user account on your Mac and see if you can play in that account? @Bluebellflora I haven't actually done this yet but I went into my applications folder just to try opening the app again but this time bypassing Origin and just opening it direct, and theres a white circle with a diagonal line through it over the sims 4 application icon! When I try to open it, it says that "You can't open "The Sims 4" as it may be damaged or corrupted". It didn't initially do this when I first had this problem. Just letting you know in case this matters at all, I'll now try setting up a new user on my mac!
What did you last do before the Sims 4 app looked like that? Seems like the game is missing from the application. If you right click on the game in your Applications folder, select Show Package Contents then Contents > MacOS, is there anything in that folder?
I'm not sure, maybe it happened when I moved the sims 4 in that folder to the trash? There was no other file in there and now when I go into the folder it's empty
