Re: Need help with sims 3, it will not open (windows 11)
@Leliel2000 What happens when you try to open Sims 3, as in, where are you in the process when it fails and what do you see? Please also let me know what kind of install this is: Origin, disc, Steam, or something else.
Your dxdiag only lists a large number of Windows update errors. While these are unlikely to be directly related to Sims 3, it's a good idea to clean them up regardless. Start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
Once you've done all this, please try to open Sims 3 again, then look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor. Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.
For any errors that mention Sims 3, or Origin if you use it, or any that happened at exactly the time you tried to launch the game, right-click on the error name and select "view technical details," then copy the info you see and paste it here. I'm only interested in errors that happen after you run DISM and sfc. If you don't see any, that's useful information too, but please check back at least an hour later in case the Reliability Monitor is slow to update.
