My Sims immediately ignore my commands.

I haven't played Sims 4 since June 2020 and decided to play it again this month (December 2020). However, before playing this time I downloaded two expansion packs (Pets and City Living). I began playing and all was well for a few minutes before my Sims starting blatantly ignoring my commands. I would tell them to take a bath or bathe the dog, it pops up in the queue, and then it immediately X's out and they don't do anything. I'm not sure if this has to do with the expansion packs, but it only started since I downloaded the new ones. I cleared the caches (I'm not very computer savvy so I got this advice from other forums), I repaired it on Origin and I even uninstalled the game. I removed my original Sims 4 folder to my desktop, uninstalled my game, then reinstalled the game. I played as a brand new Sim and everything worked but then as soon as I replaced that new saved game with my old saved games the issue came back and they ignored all my commands. I tried the "Save as..." solution which also didn't work. I assume it has something to do with the save file itself but I really have no idea what to do and I've been trying for hours today. PLEASE HELP.
