Why some legends are picked more than others & Legend Buff Ideas
Simplistically, this is down to their ability to escape.
Wraith - can phase walk to relocate AND relocate the entire team (VERY HELPFUL in ranked)
Pathfinder - Grapple
Bangalore - Speed boost when shot at
Caustic - Delays the enemy which is like escaping
I think for future legends (So after the creation of the season 6 legend) Respawn should look at the ability to escape effectively for a new legend if they wish for different legends to have a higher pick rate. I say this because, of all the new characters, every single one is situational. The Original legends were all solid picks at the start but now that we have different legends, some design improvements need to be made.
I think adding a new passive for all legends would help improve the pickrate, because lets be real here, we haven't really had much legend changes have we.
For lifeline I would suggest:
- A cooldown on her revive ability activation time after reviving twice
- A buff allowing her to use her healing drone to reinforce doors by giving it a passive shield, making it so it takes a further 2 kicks to destroy (it would stay like this until lifeline activates her healing drone), this would also mean that lifeline is unable to heal or revive with her drone. To effectively counter this, all explosive ordnance would remain the same, so a fire canister would still destroy a door as quick as it did before.
For Gibraltar:
- His hand shield is replaced with a deployable floor shield (So like a riot shield but it digs into the floor when activated), which is removed after 20 seconds, it is just big enough to allow him to take cover behind, he is unable to adjust it. A balance for this would be a yellow weakness spot around the side of the shield which could be shot at to instantly remove the deployed shield, again explosive ordnance would effectively eliminate it. The cooldown would be around 45 seconds also.
Bloodhound:
- Can place fake blood tracks to fool other bloodhounds into an awaiting ambush, there would be no way to tell a difference between these tracks, this would be a buff as well as a nerf.
Pathfinder:
- A new passive which grants him the ability to grapple one teammate ONLY up to where he is using an adjustable arm.
Octane:
- A passive which grants him the ability to double jump by double tapping X
Revanant:
- Can climb faster with no slowdown
Crypto:
- A new passive allowing him to sit on his drone and use it for 8 seconds, this would be very useful for adjusting his position, while he is sat on his drone it would take a reduced amount of shots to destroy as a small red dot between where crypto is sitting, and hitting 1 shot here instantly destroys crypto's drone and crypto falls from the position it was destroyed at, with a tiny movement speed for 2 seconds,
Loba:
- A passive shield is granted to her for 3 seconds which gives her 30 more HP when activating her tactical.
Wattson:
- Her pylons do more damage to an enemy, if the entire team are stood in or shocked by her pylons then the entire teams shields are instantly cracked regardless of how much shields they have. This would also give much needed time to heal.
I have purposely left caustic, wraith and mirage off this list because I feel they are in a really good position atm. I would more than welcome feedback from others. Please let me know what you think of the ideas, are they too OP? Why? How would you balance things out? What would you add?
