Apex Legends 2025 Summary

How would you summarize this year for Apex Legends? Do you think the game is heading in a positive direction, or is it declining? Respawn and EA should know what just a few people on this forum think of their work.

I'll start with myself.

The worst year for Apex Legends. The current development team needs immediate overhaul. For the past few seasons, this game has been nothing but a wreck. The balance between Legends has deteriorated season after season, as has the weapon balance. Maps are increasingly geared towards characters with better movement abilities—flying, gliding, jumping, teleporting, etc.

Free movement has dominated the game so much that nothing else matters now, and with a low TTK and visible health bars, fights are lightning-fast, with no time to react (especially in open spaces).
And cheaters? Percentage-wise, we have the highest number of cheaters (perhaps even since the game's release).

Well, this isn't Apex Legends anymore, this is Titanfall Legends.

Merry Christmas.

That's right, Wildcard is the only viable mode if you want to get some quick shots in and not spend 5 minutes looting.

The problem is, this mode has already been hijacked by 3stack demons and cheaters. There are days when I can't play without a cheater in the lobby. Those I've reported (10/10 headshots) are still playing, so EA isn't doing anything to ban cheaters.

  • YT suggested for some odd reason ALGS LAN highlight / review video for me last night -> gave it a go because I have not watched anything from Apex competitive for like past 2+ years maybe 3.

Am I trippin' or did they remove recoil to all guns during lan? Can't post links and videos ofc because of naming and shaming but R99 are just pixel perfect and one dude even wielded Sheila with pixel perfect accuracy, adding to that Devotion that had no recoil and Havoc which mere mortals could not handle after it was returned to almost initial state vs again pixel perfect 50-100m shots in competitive...

It use to be way different 2-3 years ago when in comp people switched to single shot guns and your 301s...now it seems rigged to me not gonna lie. Yet I would not be surprised if top guns of this game would agree to such thing during lan to keep up the hype and numbers = noone clearly would watch them snipe or g7 people from distance like they used to because using snipers for the past seasons almost has become an insult similar to "hardstuck X4"...

  • Well, I've played very little Apex over the past 8 seasons or so because of matchmaking and cheaters.  I play maybe 10% as much as when I played my most.  That said, WildCard is the only positive thing to come out of Apex in a looooong time.  When I do play Apex, that is the only mode I play.

I think Apex 2.0 is needed and should focus on getting back to basics (stable connection, consistent sound, dont overthink match making, balanced weapons…) and focus on a good experience because I don’t care how great all the updates are when Im dying behind a completely closed door.

    Potential ideas for Apex 2.0:

    • Movement shouldn’t be for all legends. I like legends with movement that needs to be intentional (pathfinder grapple, loba bracelet, rev for ex.). You shouldn’t be able to panic your way out of a fight.
    • Probably unpopular opinion: I don’t think a system that rewards camping until end game is competitive apex. I think there should be less focus on placement being the goal, but instead it should be viewed as a multiplier to kills to incentives late game kills. Adding random moments in the game where the kp multiplier changes to encourage/discourage fighting could help prevent it from ending too soon with the addition of the removed drop ship
    • That being said, I acknowledge the player base that enjoys that play style, so I think a game mode should be available once you hit plat (in a non-SBMM system) where a scrims/competitive game mode opens that prepares people for pro league/pro league format. In this mode, you could start with blue tier loot and zone 1 or 2 with smaller lobbies, depending on player base

I know much of this relies on a healthy player base, but if they want this game to be successful, considerable effort and resources are needed for ranked.

  • I agree. I have played since season zero and this year has been the first year that I have had no desire to play because the game has been reduced so heavily. I think SBMM in ranked is to blame for the skill gap we see. In OG ranked, there was a noticeable change in skill when you hit plat. Once you hit that skill wall for whatever skill rank you were, you were forced to learn how to play better to rise in rank. Now, excess movement, shield amps, alter resets, and low-skill high damage guns can carry you to whatever rank as long as you have the time for it.

I could be the minority who feels like that but I figured id make one last effort to voice my opinion before I quit this game for good.

    Anyway, happy holidays

  • Merry Christmas

I believe the game has gotten worse, mainly due to Server issues. I’ll be having a good game with Ping around 35-40 and then out of nowhere it goes to 60-70. I’m donating kills then. It is so frustrating that Apex cannot provide consistent play.
Cheaters are horrible and a normal in daily gameplay. This is for fun, nothing to be rewarded for, but yet they are everywhere.
I started Apex in season 20 and really like this game, but I can’t see it being around much longer unless it gets better management from top to bottom.

  • This is my summary after quitting Apex 3 times during 2025, while giving it a 2nd and 3rd chance reducing my gameplay time by 75% as it was not possible to play higher ranked lobbies (allocated that time to aim training and Valorant) -> going to Valorant for like 2-3 months -> finding it is no better there -> quitting basically it as well (still doing tryout in one team to see if Premier is better but as far as I know it should really not) -> now installing this.

Plus installing loads of single-player games as I know Finals might have the same thing so I will invest only a bit of time in that one and quit as soon as I see **bleep** plague of FPS games being around there as well.

Meanwhile will focus on aim training as I really start to enjoy it and getting the vibe of the community / grind to keep my mechanics sound or even improve just in case some good FPS game comes out anytime soon and is not as bad as Apex in terms of support, development and hacking.
