- @JonStriker126 I definitely understand your point too and it’ll likely also be the case but I rarely hear that someone actually buys levels XD. That’s where your theory comes in that if they make it a lil grindier without looking that way you either get
A) players engaging more which equals more time spend in-game and liking it meaning possibly more gold in the vault of the safe of EA
B) more suckers buying levels to keep up.
Either way EA wins so your theory isn’t wrong.
BUT if players see or calculate or reddit or Streamer follow someone that says that it’s much harder as opposed to slightly harder, there will be an outcry again which Respawn will have to rectify and that means no money as ppl once again lose faith :P
That said I dont want any company... gaming company (XD) to fail. I want all of them competing which gives us gamers more and better games.
No need to say that you are a caring gamer. As you point out, you wouldn’t be a multi-poster on a forum if you werent xD. Even if you were all negative nancy, that would only mean you’re a bigger supporter who just wants the best.
Here’s just to hoping that it’s almost the same - @Koochi-Q
Thank you. I appreciate your candor and it's nice to have a civil discussion on a forum (something that has seemed to be lacking in recent years, based on the time I've spent on multiple game forums in the last 5 years or so). So, again, I thank you for that. It is nice to see.
As for the overall topic at hand, I agree. And I do hope that things stay in a good place or hopefully strive to be better in terms of game design and player enjoyment. Personally, there have been multiple things that Respawn have done that I've enjoyed (everything from small QoL stuff to big buffs), but of course there have things I've disliked as well. Such is life, I suppose.
But, I do see where you're coming from with your last point. I mean, a little less grindy, a little more, that's doesn't really matter. Almost meaningless at the end of the day. Because if this change does really make things a lot more grindy, you're right, they won't be able to escape that. I mean look what happened with the shield changes in S6.
Basically, if something in this game causes a big enough stink (either positively or negatively), I'm sure it will be heard about across the land (haha). And, if it's negative (to the point of being unbearable for a large enough portion of the player base), it will most likely be addressed. Especially, if it threatens cash flow. - @Koochi-Q It totally depends on the data they have. You have to remember that you could technically buy one battle pass and keep getting the new one for nothing. This doesnt make them money. If the data says too many people are doing it, I can totally see EA trying to make it harder. If the data they have says people buy the pass but spend the coins on stuff or packs, then I could see them making it easier so more would buy it.
- @hayhor I can see this. The battle passes imo have better cosmetics than the heirloom events usually do. Worst case they are by far the best deal in Apex, even if you don't finish the whole thing. If their heirloom event income is lagging, and data says they have a lot of people just cycling through battle passes, then EA might have them drag the grind out to make it less attractive.
Honestly, if this was the case, then they need to address the stale loot in the regular Apex packs. Just start dumping old battle pass and heirloom event cosmetics into the regular Apex pack rotation. Then long time players will actually feel like they are worth buying again LOL!! - E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+
I just think we should stop jumping to worse case scenarios. We dont know how it will fully operate or how quick it can level. Assuming is no good. Then you have your brain trained to think ok i bet this is how it works you then become adapted to that thought. You then get mad when it operates completely different then the brain has programmed you to think it will work. This is by no means directed to anyone at all just speaking in general.
- @ArchAngeL-PCX I disagree the battepasses have better skins than events. We have had a few good ones in battle passes but events typically have multiple I'd like.
- @E9ine_AC Great advice for life in general.
- @asukojo You need to watch the end of Jankz 2nd Olympus videos and look at the dailies. It appears to me that he has enough dailies to do one level or close to it that day. This means that for people that play this each day, the BP leveling will actually be just as easy as before. It isnt a shock they have upped the daily involvement more. They want you engaged every single day because that means more opportunity to get your money.
https://youtu.be/oXgoRkXGzoc I found a YouTube video of early footage that shows off the battle pass and the challenges near the end. Here is the link:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXN4SbAZMYY
What I saw is the following:
Daily Challenges:
- 1 star (3 total)
- 2 star (1 total)
- 3 star (1 total)
- 8 stars total per day
- max 56 stars total per week from dailies or 5 levels plus 6 stars extra
- all can be re-rolled except a 1 star for playing 2 games
Weekly Challenges:
- 2 star (3 total)
- 5 star (2 total)
- full level (3 total)
- max 4 levels plus 6 stars extra
So (unless my math is off) if you do all dailies for the week and all weeklies, you will get 10 levels on the battle pass plus 2 stars extra.
When you factor this in plus the 1 star per 10,000 XP, I think this is going to be as fast if not faster from a weekly perspective. However, it does seem to force players to play every day in order to get the same gains from before.
Also, not too impressed with the battle pass this time or the spread of items if this video is accurate. At this point I have to say I will pass on the pass lol.
