I think Apex is great for a while. But long term, it hasn't panned out to be what people hoped. It filled a gap last year nicely for me. A gap left by otherwise broken "live service" games. Given that two of them were EA games (BFV and Anthem), my guess is EA doesn't want to risk messing with the success of Apex...at least not until their other big name titles can turn things around.
Still I was at the burnout state on Apex last December. Since then, I've been mostly playing other games, checking in on Apex for events and new season starts. I might have barely played half of season 4, and I almost entirely skipped Season 5. I think that's a big reason I've enjoyed Season 6 so far. I'm no longer invested in Apex as my primary game. It's something I check in every week when the challenges cycle. In the meantime, I've been enjoying other games like Jedi Fallen Order, the excellent updates to Battlefront 2 and Planetside 2, returning to older games like TitanFall 2 and Overwatch, and playing new titles like Fall Guys and soon the Avengers game.
