Teammates Looting - Abandoning the match

I am new to the game but saw this in an old post (about 5 years ago). There was a Rant about 1) teammates selfishly grabbing loot when you drop in especially during a hot drop and 2) hot dropping and quitting the match as soon as they get killed.  Funny but the game has not changed.

Ex. Playing with a random who hot drops, with 3 other squads, does not ping where we are going, goes to the closest set of bins and loots everything.  We get jumped and 3rd partied by the squads that landed close. I have no gun and no ammo, get killed right away.  This random is screaming how we are all bad and he has no help.  I said something to him about being inconsiderate and taking all the loot and as soon as he was killed he abandoned the match.

Please have consideration for teammates.  Share the loot. Make sure your teammate has at least one weapon.  Ping where you are going. I don't usually follow all the way down and try to land close so I can get a weapon and engage if i need to.  If you start in a match, have some common decency and finish the match. Don't quit and abandon the team. Funny though how I have won several, or came in 2nd or 3rd with only 2 players. Probably didn't need the ID10T anyway. LOL

  • I've been reading this same post since the day the game launched. Everyone says the same thing: loot as a group, back up the team, stick together, etc. All of which is wrong in the sense that the real problem came before any of these other issues arise.

Why did the jump master choose a hot drop? When the other two players saw where he was heading, why didn't they break off? Why do people enable this kind of idiotic behavior to begin with? I'm far from the most team-oriented player in the game, so I know my advice will hit a lot people the wrong way, but here it is: In the drop ship I always choose the "drop solo" option. Then I wait to see where the jump master pings. Fun fact: most jump masters don't bother to exercise even basic good manners by pinging their drop before they jump. They just jump and aim directly for streamer building. I'd wager most of them aren't even aware that they're short one squadmate already, and if they are they most certainly don't moderate the heat of their drop by even one little bit. They jump into their dumpster fire and die within fifteen seconds around 90% of the time. They may or may not berate me as they quit - I wouldn't know since they were muted in the lobby.

If you don't hot drop then it doesn't matter whether a squadmate vacuums up everything in the first four bins you come to. If he's that irritating then you have the time and safety you need to get away from him and loot properly. You have the time and safety you need to plan your next destination and the safest route to it. You have the time and safety you need to prevent getting rinsed out of the match in 18th place. I'm sure a lot of players would find all of that boring, but there are a lot of players in this game who should be playing team deathmatch and not battle royale. If you're going to play the game then play it like the outcome matters. If it doesn't matter then play Wildcard.

  • I share your sentiments. Nothing pisses me off more than opening a bin and having one of my teammates swoop in and grab everything before I even have a chance. We're supposed to be competing with other teams, not each other.
