Wattson needs buffed. Period.

So a couple months ago I began my personal challenge to get 1000 kills per legend. I began this because honestly the game gets boring after you get to pred ranked. I would be grinding out pred right now to increase my rank but ranked this season is honestly ruined for me because of how many players used that exploit. Anyways back to the topic at hand. 

Ill start with her ultimate. It is only effective art counteracting gabby ultimate and grenades. You cannot place it down fast enough to counter Bangalores barrage or caustics nox grenades'. Yes her ultimate repairs shields but VERY SLOWLY. So what its useful for all of two things? Ask yourself how often a team needs to camp OUTSIDE OF RANKD/COMP {don't worry ill get to that later} Its not to often a squad is like "man I wish I would have played Watson so I could stop that gibby ultimate from squad wiping us". Watson in public matches is 100% useless. Id also like to add why crypto can delete all of Watsons stuff? Guess how well drowns work against a emp rifle in real life? they don't. like at all. Turns out drowns are very sensitive to any for of electrical interference {yes I know this because im in the army}

So I just pointed out why Watson is bad vs crypto let me tell you who she's REALLY bad against. yep you probably guess it caustic. Sure her little ultimate negates caustics, however you know what it dosent? his traps. Yeah those things he has 3 of and can have up to 6 of out at one time. They actually destroy fences. So if I were raid a building with Watson fences all I simply need do it throw a trap in there {which the fences will activate for me} and walk right in after a single second. This is all of course I just don't simply shooting them out because well. its very hard to find somewhere the enemy players cant do that. 

So where is Watson used the most? tournaments and ranked of course. There she does a little better because the game is more played around positioning and defense {camping}. Even then only a select few players are good enough to use her effectively. Myself climbing to 1000 kills with her was exhausting and I did not enjoy her at all. Very rarely did I find myself using her abelites to change to game to my advantage. This just goes to show why caustic is the best player for defense, and if your good with him he is also good for offense. {raiding campers in buildings. 

I know some of you on here will just say im not good enough with her or whatever but here's what you need to understand. I put in 1000 kills with her and can tell you she has no place outside of tournaments. WHY HAVE A LEGEND IN THE GAME IF THATS THE ONLY PLACE THEY HAVE A CHANCE OF BEING USED. The learning curve for Watson is to great and quite honestly is not worth it. 

My suggestions for buffing watsn? Make her fences taller, allow them to block grenades as well as harder to kill. Fix issues with her ultimate not working as intended in enclosed spaces make that thing MUCH MUCH MUCH harder to kill, increase its shield recharge range and make it PORTABLE. IF you really wanted to make her OP you could increase the shield recharge as well what I mean by op is viable btw. or you could make recharging shields faster when the player is close to the ultimate. JUST BUFF SOMETHING PLEASEEEEEEEEEE

  • I recently posted this on another thread, but it would be good if her fences were only activated once an enemy passes through them. Once activated, they would stay active for ~10 seconds. It would give her fences the element of surprise that they desperately need. More players will accidentally cross the fence, and this would make Wraiths passive, Bloodhounds scan, Mirages decoys and Crypto's drone more important for trap detection.

    I think her ult should stay active on her back and stay active for a short time, while increasing its shield charging effectiveness so that it can fully charge a level 3-4 shield in one charge. This would stop the ult from being destroyed immediately, but would make Wattson more of a target while it's active.

  • The fact that most terrain is uneven renders her fences pretty unreliable too, that amount of times i've slid straight under a wattson fence or just jumped over one is ridiculous.

    Like darth said her ult is too damn loud also....hell even the fences are when you've got a few set up, I refuse to use them these days as the in game audio is already sketchy, completely unwilling to handicap myself further.

    @DarthValtrexThat's unlucky! I don't understand why we have this problem. Like hasn't this been tested? If you're camping then you ain't gonna hear anything except maybe Octanes stim xD A guy I used to play with used to main Wattson. I had to turn the audio down it was ridiculous.

    @MandatoryIDtag I completely forgot about the bumpy terrain. It's especially bad from between the train yard and towards capital city.

    @MandatoryIDtag She is really solid at camping buildings and the ult does come in handy. The best wattson player I know is not a camper. He plays aggressively, the ults are thrown down once we engage an enemy. It gives us that much more health, even if it’s just 4-6 armor sometimes that’s the difference in the fight. Fences he uses on my portals or on exteriors if buildings. Basically they are used as a means to control the direction of the enemy. But they are not really used to keep people out of our building/area.

    I have been using caustic in that fashion. Use the traps to push enemies a certain direction. It’s been much more effective and fun.
  • @DarthValtrex  Mhm, I only ever use her fences for portal blocking...only time theyre actually useful lol.

    The ult isn't bad, comes in handy when you've got an endgame gibby waiting to rain hell on your noggin, the shield charging is a double edged sword if you're dropping it mid fight though. x.x

    @DarthValtrex My friend mained wattson for a huge part of season 4 and almost all of 5. The gen is too loud for sure.

    @hayhor I play him for fun from time to time. But I still think he needs a buff.

    The tarps need to deploy much faster and be active as soon as they hit the ground, not have a delay. The impact area needs to be as big as a thermal or maybe slightly bigger. People walk all around them like they are nothing.
  • I posted a thread on feedback>legends regarding this earlier tonight, check out that post for full explanation. 

    Basically 2 major changes need to be made to her fences. 

    1. Allow them to be toggled on and off like how you can control mirage clone and crypto drone. In “off” state, the poles are not extended, only the disks can be seen. When turned “on” the poles extend and the fence activates. Can be done at any distance. This allows for traps even in an open field.

    2. Fence disks should be able to stick to walls, allowing the pole to come out horizontally, and in turn the fences. Where would this be useful? You could efficiently cover vertical zip lines. You could also use inside a building to force them into a much smaller area in the middle of the room. Coupled with #1, this would make her on par with caustic as a trapper. As she should be.

    My highest damage game and kills was with wattson full on aggressive game play no trapping or camping. 

    27 kills 5400 damage

    She is super fun I feel she is in a good place right now. She is still viable and can lay down some heat. Some good friends of mine are wattson mains with 15k + kills on her. She is situational and knowing when to do what I can say that much. I find 90% of the games when playing wattson there is no ideal time for her traps. They either get jumped over or slid under. I believe they need to lower the last static bar to be able to go to ground level so no one can slide under it via bad positioning on the map where you get wonky traps. 

    Devs please taking into consideration with how wattson is played trap style that a lot of the map makes her traps quite easy to get through. Increase the bar to be on ground level and a extra bar above wille creat a more stable and more logical trap set up. There are way to many hills and such to make her traps 100% usable in situations. I may just play different all i care about is her ult. I use it when its time to heal and i know a team is about to launch the mother load of grenades. A lot legends need little help here and there to make a realistic reality of any ones play style can make it viable.
