365-day restriction after unlinking wrong Steam account

Hello there,

I hope you can help me with a problem regarding my son's Apex Legends account. My son has been playing Apex Legends for several years on consoles (PlayStation and Xbox). We invested a lot of time and money into this account, and it has all his progress and purchased content. Recently we decided to move him to PC gaming, because of that we tried to link his EA account to Steam so he could continue playing Apex Legends on PC with the same account. Unfortunately, we accidentally linked the wrong Steam account to the EA account. After realizing the mistake we unlinked that Steam account and tried to link the correct one, but no luck. Now we are getting a restriction message saying we have to wait 365 days before linking another account. This was an honest mistake, and we really want my son to continue playing on PC using his original EA account where all his progress and purchases are. Is there any way your team could help us manually link the correct Steam account to this EA account, or remove the restriction in this case? We would really appreciate any help or guidance you can provide.

Thank you in advance!

chyesnok Just to make sure its known, Apex progress is stored on the EA Account level, (not on Xbox, PlayStation, etc.), and that progress also cannot be transferred, (or merged), to another EA Account, (so do NOT unlink any platform account to then link to another EA Account as not only would the progress not move over, but it can become lost for good as well, (while it is possible to restore progress with relinking the platform account back to the original EA Account, that doesn't always work)).

The no luck part stems from the fact that once a platform account is linked to an EA Account, it creates a lifetime link to that EA Account, (which means that you can only link the wrong Steam Account as that is the one with the lifetime link).

The only way to possibly resolve the issue, is by contact EA Support, (however in most cases, they won't be able to undo the lifetime link).

This part is a bit new to me as usually when you unlink a platform account, it typically makes you wait 6 months, not a year.

Judging by this sentence, you do seem to know that the Apex progress is stored on the EA Account, (but the above still applies about the risks of unlinking the Xbox/PlayStation Accounts from it).

As for this, I would love to help, however sadly account related issues cannot be handled on the forums, (so as mentioned above, you would want to contact EA Support instead), and from what I know of, they cannot manually link a platform account for you:

Although, since an EA Account is required to play Apex, your son can also play the game through the EA App instead of through Steam, (so even if EA Support is unable to resolve the linking issue, your son can still play Apex on their PC):

[Unrelated] Lastly, if your son is also a fan of Gundam, there is a free art tracker set that they can unlock through a Discord Quest:

If they are interested in the Gundam art tracker set, I've talked more about the Discord Quest here:

Note: I do not work for EA or for Respawn, I am a volunteer.
