Apex crashes laptop's Wifi driver

Been playing the game for over half a year now and never had a single problem up until last week. Without any updates or adding any files into apex, the game consistently kills my wifi driver out of the blue. My wifi is fine and other devices can still use the wifi without any problems. After the initial crash, every game/launch have been the same. After a few test, the game always kills the wifi driver when choosing a legend or right after dropping. Other games in steam are working just fine, only apex shows this problem. The annoying part is that most of the time the internet doesn't come back on on its own. It usually requires a network reset followed by a pc restart in order to get the wifi driver back and running. Without a network reset, it is impossible to connect to any network at all.

I've tried:
- validating the game files

- reinstalling the drivers

Please Help.

  • @_clxm69If you're on steam, try the following.

    1. Open Steam and click on "Steam"
    2. Click on "Settings"
    3. Navigate to the "In-game" tab
    4. Change "In-game server browser. Max pings / Minute" to something like "1500" (you can play around with this value)
    5. Close the settings by pressing "OK"

If you are still having issues you can try the following.

    1. Press CTRL+R to open Run
    2. Enter "Regedit" and press "OK"
    3. Navigate to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Valve/Steam
    4. Right click a blank area and make a new string value
    5. Name the new value "CafeRate"
    6. Double click on the CafeRate and set the value to something like "8000" (you can play around with this value as well. The lower the less chance that your WiFi craches. Don't go below "3000")

Over at the GeForce forum I saw a post where someone manage to solve a similar issue with a windows update.

Maybe you could check if there are any new updates available in Windows update?

And if you haven't updated to windows 11 yet, maybe you could try that?

I've also seam some users on reddit with similar issues. One user said that clearing his CMOS and updating BIOS seamed to work.

These procedures requires a bit more technical knowledge, and if done wrong they could actually damage your PC.

You could follow steps on how to do this on youtube.

I've tried all three options that you've mention and unfortunately all of them did not work. I've also tried different ways such as reinstalling the driver and so on with little to no luck as well. Currently the game is in a worse state, the game can only load into the lobby and lags immediately compared to previous tries where I was able to at least drop.
