apex lagging for no reason

When season 5 started apex was on all highest setitngs possible which is also my geforce experience opmtized settings and the game ran fine but about 2-3 weeks ago the game decided to just be laggy, and by that i mean when ingame, a actual game not firing range or a hunt, i get fps drops and stutters, with everything high i usually get 70-90 fps but for some reason im getting 30-60 (its very noticable for me) and that fps drop made the game unplayable, i cant find any fixes for it, even turning off shadows, putting all settings to the lowest i still get fps drops and im not sure why, apex has ran fine for me even when i had a gtx 960 (using a RTX 2060 SUPER now) i still had 70-90 fps with the same settings except for the texture streaming budget as it was at 2gb instead of the 8gb i have now (another thing is, turning down all settings to  the minimum but with texture streaming to atleast a 2gb or anything in it from 2-8gb the game still renders everything at a high texture as if nothing changed, only noticable difference between my normal settings and everything low but texture budget is the pixelation of the edges (which is anti aliasing being off)

I cant find a single fix or anything to fix the random fps drops and its rather infuriating when i want to play ranked as the low fps isnt ideal for when trying to get higher RP, BUT when playing in hunts or firing range, i get the normal 70-90 fps, due to normal fps in 1-3 player games  (hunt and firing range) i thought it was my internet but my internet is wired and has no changes whatso-ever to it, even when switching to a faster switch it made no difference

i tried setting the game to high performance gpu in control panel, windows thing (where it tries to use integrated gpu but i dont have one of those and instead of power saving its on high performance), modifying the video config file to remove shadows, set things to low where i couldnt in settings etc . None of these things worked tho, im stumped of what to do

specs:

i5 2500K

RTX 2060 SUPER

12gb of ram

apex is on a 500gb  SSD which is no where near full

1920x1080 resolution monitor 16:9

i really need a fix for this i just want to play apex and get the whole battle pass do all challenges etc but this fps drop stutter thing is making it unplayable for me.

  • I believe it's actually a server-side thing. I get similar issues - game ran great at 90+frames, but started getting connection issues the week before season 5 dropped. Under low-traffic, the game plays great. When traffic increases, textures degrade and fps drops. It's really bizarre like it's streaming the textures off the server in real time rather than them being stored locally. I went through 2 weeks where I pretty much couldn't play at all. I did some tweeks and now can play occasionally, but at peak European times, I'm just out of luck. I've tried tons and tons of fixes. Once thing you can try is downloading TCPOptimizer, and watching this video https://youtu.be/ZqZsVND6KGU

  • Hey @FatKaboose ,

this may helps you. Look at the start commands and the autoexec config I postet as well. But try keeping your gpu more loadet as your cpu - different from my instructions in the link, set the grafic to mid/max only the settings for cpu load at least to off/minimum. Set the game to fullscreen, windowed causes lags for some reason.

    Spoiler

With my old i5-4690k at 4,7 ghz apex didn't run that well too. Think about upgrading mobo/cpu/ram.
