Can't find friends when I search

I am on xbox and my friend is on playstation. We followed the steps and made our accounts discoverable. It still didn't work. He is a new player, so maybe that has something to do with it. He complet...

FIFA 21 does not contain cross-platform play I'm afraid.

@EA_Cade well this is why my tag says newbie lol. I thought this was for Apex. I doubt you can help me with that but any advice would be great. Thanks!

    Your friends might have cross platform off in-game or have add crossplay friends off in their ea settings. You might also have this, so double check.

      I can find other accounts that aren't xbox. We have gone to the website and verified we have the correct settings. It still didn't work. The only thing I can assume is that he is brand new to the game. As in he hasn't played online yet. Just the tutorial.
