Constant "Prediction Error" Pop Up

(Quick Edit: but I failed to mention that I am on PC, and have only ever played Apex on PC. It also occurs to me that I was using the UO Trace program incorrectly, and have now figured out how it works.)

It appears that this may be a known issue, as I see quite a few posts about this issue but I have yet to find a solid fix. I apologize in advance for another one of these threads. I just picked up the game late into Season 4 and I enjoy it, but ever since the second day of play, I have struggled with the "Prediction Error" issue. I tend to rubber band all over the place and at random intervals.

Sometimes it won't pop up for a few min, other times it pops up every 10 seconds. Some days it's manageable, other days it's impossible to play. Due to the current happenings in our world, I am unable to contact EA Support due to their modified hours, and I have already attempted to run their "UO Trace" program so I could have a log file or whatever it may be, but it doesn't seem to do anything? The application just pops up and pressing any of the button does nothing (check edit). Resetting my router seems to only fix the issue for a few min and then I am back to square 1. I am already hardwired into it, and it seems that the issue has only increased in frequency since the Season 5 launched just a few days ago. I am extremely confused, as this issue does not seem to happen on my significant others gaming rig, who is also hard wired into the same router as I am.

And as a side note, I have already attempted to "Repair" the game using Origin, and have already uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice now. I only ever have issues with Apex and nothing else. I have played other games online and my connection is perfectly fine, no packet loss, no lag, nothing of the sort. Apex is the only game I play that has these issues.

Does anyone have any idea of what I can do? I am trying very hard to enjoy the game, but this issue has been with me every step of the way and I am just about done with Apex because of it.

@TheCreamS0da Yeah, I have been getting micro freezes in every single one of my matches when the prediction error pops up. I can't even fight properly cuz of these micro freezes every 15 sec. I will quit Apex if I have to keep playing like this.

I have this EXACT issue. You described it perfectly about how resetting the modem/router only fixes it for 5 minutes and how some days it only happens a few times a game and other days it is unplayable for the entire game. I am on an Xbox One X if that helps. Have you had any luck fixing this issue?

@Betterer Not yet. I have looked up this issue on these forums and can see that people have had this issue long before Season 5 started, but no one seems to have a definite fix. I would love to contact EA support, but due to their modified hours not really working well with my schedule, I am never available when they are open. Just completely at a loss as for what to do.

I haven't hard anything from the team about this in particular.

If anyone hasn't already done so, can you try running through some steps for me to see if that makes a difference for you at all? When you can, please start off with the basic connection troubleshooting steps over at the EA Help website.

If it keeps happening afterward try the platform-specific steps as well:

- Xbox One

- PlayStation 4

- PC

@EA_Kent I'm not OP but have the same issue.

I have this issue as well connecting to EU servers (PC). What's important to note is that the game worked flawlessly before this for months and randomly started happening maybe May 5th or 6th for me. It will sometimes play flawlessly, then sometimes get packet loss so severe that the game becomes so laggy that players are moving every few seconds then freezing for a few seconds. Frame rate stays fine, but player models and textures turn really really bad quality when this happens.

It seems to happen more frequently when I encounter enemy players. When I'm just with my team looting - the game will often run perfectly fine.

Things I've tried:

UOTrace - everything fine on my end, even tested when I'm getting the symptoms and I'm not seeing more than 2% packet loss.
Flushing DNS
Changing DNS
Restarting Router
Changing Router WiFi channel
Plugging in ethernet cable
UPnP is enabled, firewall off
windows firewall rules are set to allow apex on all networks
Forwarded ports
Changing in-game settings, graphic card settings
Playing on VPN closer to various servers (only makes it laggier)
Using phone as a hotspot
Running Adw MAlware bytes
IPconfig renew and release
Netwinsock reset
Looking at network adapter drivers - mine are latest
Endless speed tests to see if it's just the ISP spiking
Changing in-game servers endlessly to no avail
repaired the game
making sure all other devices are off the network

None of these fixes have had any effect

When I hit this massive packet loss - I have hopped immediately onto UO trace/speed test sites and apps/going on command prompt and pinging servers to test for packet loss. Every test I have come up with during the issues or in general show the same thing - my connection is the same as it always is - fine.

Up until 2 weeks ago, the game played fine. Last week - there were windows when the game played fine. Now, it gets worse and worse and there are rarely any games where I don't get horrible lag, so I have been trying less because it's not fair to other players who get left without a teammate.

There are massive reports of no-reg hits, people complaining of lag and disconnects. I think they're tied to the update. This all started for me the week before the update. Lots of other threads in here cite the same issues. Tons more are on reddit.

Hello Kent,
I went ahead and followed your advice and attempted all the fixes listed. I tried port forwarding, flushing the DNS, and cold booting to my OS. Still no changes. I went ahead and booted up the firing range after following the guides and have attached a link to a quick video clip so you can see visually what it looks like. Keep an eye on the top right of the screen while watching it. This isn't even nearly as bad as it can get. Like I mentioned in the original post, it's very sporadic in terms of how intense it can be. I've had it get so bad that I will pick something up off the ground, it will appear in my inventory, leave my inventory, and then reappear back where it was originally (only happened for one game in about 2ish months but that was easily the worst it got).
Not sure where to go from here, do you possibly have any advice? I saw that in the original patch notes for Season 5, it was listed that various conditions that cause Prediction Error's were fixed but it seems that didn't do anything to remedy my issue. Thanks for your help in advance.

I got the same problem as you and I already saw your video and it's similar to what happen on mine.
Have you already found the solution for this issue? Or have you already heard any other word from devs?
If it helps,
I got all my settings to low and still experiencing this kind of issue. Random prediction error when I fight with the enemy, looting, or even just walk in an open space.
It starting to happen from 2-3 days ago and I don't know why.

@TheCreamS0daThis is the servers. I am on 1 gig speed with 244 hrtz if i wish to go that high. I also will see rubber band a entire lobby had it actually all had slowly crawl to the circle with out being rubber band the entire match mind you every single player was having this happen to them. I found it to happen a lot more when playing on servers outside my country as im East coast and i normally play on london for a lot i mean a lot faster ques. But this does happen to me on these type servers. So if you have a friend invite you and they live in different country the servers are built and designed to push player to the invite persons lobby. So if you invite them they are in your region of servers. If they invite you then you are on their region. This plays a huge role into this rubber band issue. Also toy around with joining other servers near you one big reason other then ques i play on london is because east coast servers well just not great at the moment.
