Cross-Progression Lost Data.

Hey guys,

I'm not too sure how big of a thing this is, but I'm going to shoot my shot anyway and ask as the support team can't give me any info and keep redirecting me here. (Not upset at them, just don't want to keep bugging them lol)

So, a few months back, my Xbox account was hacked and I had to ask support for help to change the Xbox account, that I couldn't get into because of it being hacked, to another one I had access to, so I could be ready for Cross-Progression when it was out.

I managed to get all of that sorted, saw that my Xbox was attached to my EA and I was ready for the rollouts. But I never got a prompt to activate it (Like the ones where is shows you both accounts and asks if you want to merge the 2, I don't know, that's what I saw on twitter)

Just to double check, I asked a friend to check my Xbox account to see if I still had all of my stuff, but my entire Xbox accounts data was deleted and replaced with a level 1 account.

Today, I asked the support team to see if there was anything that they, or I, could do, as I'm getting back into the game and would like my progress back. They said that I needed an Xbox to visually see the prompt to activate Cross-Progression. So I asked a friend to login on my account today, and they saw that my PC account was on my Xbox account, not the other way around.

So this leaves me wondering if my Xbox accounts data was purged/deleted from existence, and was wondering if this has happened to anyone else where, they never got the prompt and the account that was moving to another platform, got removed/deleted but still shows that it's connected to your EA.

Any help/insight is greatly appreciated.

    Hey myetttt,

Just for a little clarification, all accounts have had cross progression active for quite some time (earlier in 2024), so there wouldn't be any prompts to activate it at this point. Those appeared primarily when the initial waves started rolling out back in late 2023. So, in that sense, not seeing that prompt is perfectly normal.

What's likely causing the issue here is unlinking a platform, as that can cause a permanent loss of progress regardless of the reasons for doing so. You may be able to recover progress by re-linking the initial Xbox and EA accounts, but if re-linking the original accounts does not return any progress, that would unfortunately mean it's gone for good.

If you haven't given that a shot yet and you run into any trouble with the re-linking process, it may help to reach (back) out to support, only this time to help re-link the original accounts rather than focusing on the cross progression aspect. The account you're posting with doesn't seem to have ever launched Apex on an Xbox until pretty recently, so since you played on Xbox in the past it's likely there's another EA account out there with that progress.

    Hey EA_Mako

Thank you so much for replying and trying to help, I couldn't be more thankful.

I think I understand what you're saying, but just to be clear and on the same page, you're saying that, because an old EA account that had my Xbox linked to it, when the roll-out for cross-progression happened, it was using that EA account. So, because I had to unlink the Xbox account that was associated with the inaccessible EA account whilst cross-progression was rolling out, it could've potentially lost all of the Xbox data that was meant to be on my main EA account.

You're also suggesting to reach out to EA to put thing back, the way they were before I unlinked the Xbox account from the original EA account.

I do actually have access to that account now as they changed the information for me. So I am able to go on that account now, so would your theory still potentially work if that's the case? Just unlink my Xbox account from the EA account that it's currently on, re-link it to the account that it was on and if that doesn't work, then the Xbox account data has been deleted.

One thing I am confused about is, I saw people and asked around, just trying to get clarification and reassurance on my account still be 'out there', and they mentioned the Apex tracker website and mentioning that, if you can still see your Xbox accounts statistics on there it was okay. Could you give some insight on that please?

Thank you again though, the last post I made was 2 years ago and thought it was a long shot to post now lol.

    Hey myetttt,

You have this correct, yep! That would definitely be the thing to try at this point.

Just unlink my Xbox account from the EA account that it's currently on, re-link it to the account that it was on and if that doesn't work, then the Xbox account data has been deleted.

It's worth noting this would never have transferred anything from one (inaccessible) EA account to another (main) EA account, so this would be a matter of seeing if it's still on that older account rather than being able to update things for the newer one sadly.

Certain Apex fan websites used to track your progress or status can give you a general indication of what was on the account, but they're more like a snapshot of the account at a certain point in time rather than a live indicator of what's currently there. The only way to see what's still actually on the account would be logging into Apex on that specific EA account to see what turns up.

    Hey EA_Mako,

Thank you so much for clearing that up, means a whole lot to me that you're taking time out of your day to try and help.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. Which is a bummer, but I'm glad you presented the possible solution.

Thank you again though, you've been the only real response I've gotten about this in 2 years.

Hope this can help others who might have the same situation ^^

Sorry to hear that didn't do the trick banzikiller360, but glad we could at least clarify the situation to give a bit more insight about what happened.

Thanks for the understanding and do let us know if anything else comes up!
