Re: LOW GPU USAGE

@GH0ST0326Hi! Can you provide further information about your windows version and your periphrials' polling rates? Try to test if the stuttering happens only if you are moving your mouse.
You can still try the following:
- Go to your game's installation folder, right click on `r5apex.exe` or `r5apex_dx12.exe`, goto properties -> compatibility tab -> check the `disable fullscreen optimization` box.
- Try to remove any of the advanced startup arguments in your steam and cfg files(if any), especially those that relates to acquiring higher process priority and threads, as they can sometimes cause undefined behavior.

I am running on windows 11 Home and I have a 144 HZ monitor if that is what you are asking ? It feels like the game is running on a very low fps and Nividia overlay says very little of my gpu is being used. When I stop moving there isnt stuttering but it still looks like the game is running at like 20 fps. I tried both those recommendations and removed the launch options I had but I am still running into problems. Anything else I can try ?

@wolf109909 thank you for replying any help is greatly appreciated Apex is probably my favorite game and it sucks not being able to play.
  • @GH0ST0326 You’re welcome! I have the same issues with apex a few years back and it turns out the intel cpu in my MacBook is constantly going to sleep state, causing massive stuttering. After using a tool called “cpu unpark”, the problem resolved. However I don’t think apex would still have such issues with windows power management nowadays, but you can still give it a try. You should also see if updating or manually installing your chipset drivers makes a difference (go to your motherboard’s manufacturer’s website for that) and also disable all gsync or free sync compatible features in your driver. Another thing I can think of is to turn off lighting sync in apex settings. That is a feature that the game changes your devices RGB lighting based on something happening in game if you have a compatible device and with the correct drivers installed, but many people seem to have issues with it.
If you are using TeamSpeak with overwolf or discord, try turning everything related to ingame overlay off. Including the windows gaming one that many people uses custom crosshair with, that sometimes can cause significant performance issues from my testing.

I downloaded the newest chipset drivers and then got back on the game and it started working until everything froze up and I got congestion and prediction errors then my fps dropped back down. Are there any other people experiencing similar problems ? Could it just be the game needs an update to fix this issue ?

  • @GH0ST0326 That’s normal speed. Can you try launching the game in a clean boot environment and see if that makes a difference? Also you could try running the game in borderless window mode, and try cleaning your apex shader cache.you can try downgrading your gpu driver to make sure it’s not nvidia breaking anything, with DDU and an older version of your driver. ( apex shouldn’t need a newer driver actually )

I will try Borderless rn. How do I do a clean boot and it wont let me rollback my Nividia driver anyway around that ?

Don't know if this will help, but have you checked the nvidia 3d setting below is not set to auto?

    Configure Surround, Physx

If it is, try setting it to your "nvidia gforce gtx/rtx" instead.

Works really well putting the video load onto the gpu, taking it away from the cpu. Esp good if you have 2 monitors going.
