I hate all out warfare because of the specialists and the awful map design. The graphics are also a whole separate issue that I'm not going to talk about. But Dice, please delete these two massive problems with the game and give us a true battlefield experience like you did with portal. Doesn't make my opinion any better than someone who started with BF3...If you think this is the best BF they ever made than you're in a very serious minority... Maybe this is exactly what YOU wanted out of a BF game, which again, is fair and your opinion. But MOST of the BF community did NOT want this hero-shooter wannabe...

BF3 was not bad per say neither BF4 but they were not as good as BF2042 in so many aspect ..Some maps needs improovement here and there .. So balance issues need to be adressed here and there ... But DICE dosnt have to shut the game or fundamentally changed it ...They created PORTAL just for peoples like these who want BF 2042 to be a carbon copy of old tittle .... Portal offer almost unlimited possibility ... But you know the truth ? Almost no ones want to play these even if they put lots of effort into the modable aspect .. Why ?Because most peoples who dont spend a seconds on forums actually enjoy the base game more than these " Users created modes " wich they might play for an hour or so every now and then ..Now the " Target audience " they had for portal want to force everyones into the " OLD " experience because they cant get populated servers for their " vision " of what BF should be .. @SirBobdk We jumped into 1942 last night to see what the fuss was about and I have to say, there was no real difference in terms of this mythical 'cover' between El Alamein and Hourglass for example.Both have large open expanses of 'nothing'!Although there is no real direct comparison, the same with Battle of the Bulge. (I also noticed that the church is the same as BFV and the windmill is from BF1!).Not saying these maps are bad in and of themselves but in terms of cover, not that much different from BF2042 maps.It just seems that the 'community' want large maps but don't want to travel far with loads of detail that isn't cluttered and has loads of cover that can be destroyed.

I had high hopes for this game because of all the animation vids they had for it during build up. They showed a heavy infantry aspect in those videos and more details and destruction. It was also supposed to go back to the roots of battlefield. How can you advertise that you're going to the roots while putting in specialists. I agree with the person that called this a hero shooter now. Specialists shouldn't have had names, they should have been replacements for the engineer, medic, assault, and recon instead. They didn't need to be basically named mercenaries. It makes fighting sometimes confusing because you're attacking player models that look exactly like your team. That's a dumb decision.Maps are very few, and not very good. Graphics are pretty low and there's nearly no map details. Feels like some quickly made korean mmo where all the houses are empty. There's nothing unique. There's nothing really to destroy, and the ones that do are very clunky and unrealistic compared to the last few BF games. There's also A LOT of empty space. It makes you feel like this is barely an infantry shooter anymore. Vehicles dominate everything, and the Heli's are just insane with how much empty ground there is. For the guy that mentioned we shouldn't be running across empty fields....most of these maps you really have no choice in the matter. They are some of the largest BF maps to date, but 80% of it is just empty, fully exposed land. The maps need more cover for ground troops to move around in, and most of the vehicles need a lot of rework.The weapons I'm not going to really complain too much about, mainly because I can't imagine them not adding more, however, the synergy around them need to be adjusted. Everyone complains that no one is restocking or throwing out medpacks....could that possibly be because they made these massive maps dominated by vehicles, and infantry need to carry anti vehicle weapons on them to cross the map? That weapon that takes over the slot for your medbag or ammo? Dumb decision considering that you could use both of those in previous BF games. Again, if we're going back to our roots, why are you forcing something on us that is completely different than our norm? They were so excited to push out the specialists that no one asked for and was never in past BF games (roots again), that they hijacked one of the slots that would normally be for either your weapon tool or your med/ammo slot instead, then wonder why no one is healing or resupplying, lol.Game is just a giant contradiction to what most of us were under the impression we were getting from this game, and they deserve this backlash.

Delete Specialists, Delete the Maps

Since I have only played the beta, I am a little cautious of commenting on maps. But BF was built as a vehicle game on big maps. And as I see it, BF returns to this concept with BF2042.
So why is this not a true BF game in terms of mapdesign. Is it because the current player base want small / medium size maps with 10 sec between each flag.
Like I said, I'm not taking a stand. I'm just curious.

@SirBobdk Its not the distance that's the issue of the maps, they just lack decent cover or in-between area's where the close combat can happen.

The way its designed now just feels like: Alright. We have vehicles. They should be able to reach everywhere so lets make points nice and open. Its fine to have vehicles on points but at some spots it renders infantry just being target practice.

Yes, that was also my view after the beta. I liked the size, but there was really a lack of cover. However, this is something DICE should be able to fix.
I'm going to buy the game at some point. But like many others, I also think there is a lot to be done before the game is where it should be. I hope it's going to happen.

The maps are also just boring. There is nothng special about them. Everything is clean and nice, cars parked everywhere, yet if all the vehicles are in use, you have to walk all over the map. Even in 64-player maps you sometimes have to walk around 300 meters after being forced to spawn at the start of the match to the first objective.
Another problem is, that vehicles can farm everything, if there is not at least one squad abusing the soflam + rocket launchers. Jets are for example so fast, they can easily have endless runs on AA-vehicles, since the can just flair all the time and fly away from the lock-on. Good chopper pilots can do the same, as the lock-on stops, as soon as even the smallest thing is in your line of sight.

@Daeyon-beThere is no such thing as a BF homogeneous community ... All BF games were vastly different on so many level even BF2 and BF2 modern combat on xbox were vastly different on so many level yet they were both combine arms BFgames ...

BFBC and BF2 were insanely different on so many level even BFBC2 and BFBC1 were totally different on like hundreads of points yet were both BF games ...

Most BF2 players hated BF3 and called it out a COD games and so on and on and on and on ...

Everyone in what you call BF " COmmunity " all have vastly different expectation and so on .. Some wanted BF to be more realistic , some others want it more arcady . Some want totally destructible environments some others hates it and want more undestructibles covers ..

Some want 120mm tanks to have fixed rotation speed .. Some want back the arcady turret speed thst moove at mouse speed etc..etc..

For some BFV mechanics etc..is the gold standards for others irs BF2 others BF2142 others its BFBC2 others BF3 some others BF4 and some others None of the past BF ..

So sorry but there as never ever been a consensus about what BF should be next . wich BF should get a sequel .. Wich mechanics should go trough and so on... There has never ever been a BF who wasnt heavily criticized at launch on all level and BF2042 is no different Yet its as much a BF game as any other BF games who made things different .. BF2 , Bf2 Mc , BFBC , BF2142 , BF3 etc..

Me too! I was 10 Years old when I started playing. lol i used to have a blast, and was excited to have my son join me and my dad, but the game is just too unplayable.
