Re: 2 Different Accounts cannot play on same Internet line?

Hey @kompete,

Sorry to hear that you're having issues with playing BF2042 at the same time.

Are both of the accounts connected to one and the same EA account by any chance? As in you play BF2042 via an Xbox account that is connected to the same EA account as where BF2042 for PC is being played on simultaneously?

  • Hi there i am having the same kind of problem when using our Xbox accounts.

Ok I purchased the gold edition of BF 2042 (digital) for my Xbox series X. I game share with my son who has his own console (series X) and we have played together with games like BFV etc.

Unfortunately with BF2042 when we try to play together it kicks one of us from the game i.e if I am online and my son starts the game it kicks me and the same happens when i start the game when he is already playing it kicks him.

On a side note it also seems to show that even though I haven't had a chance to play yet it shows my son's stats as my own , for example play 3 conquest maps where I have not play any.

I have Game Pass Ultimate and have made sure other games still work with game share.

@EA_Leeuw Hi and thanks for responding.

Our accounts are completely separate - I have an EA account and purchased my game via Origin and play on PC; my brother has a Xbox account and purchased his game via Xbox and plays on Xbox.
  • you need to google port fowarding, this has been a issue with battlefield for a very long time.

I cant remember what port needs to be forwarded in your router but there is no other way round it, i had the same problem back in the bf4 days.

If you google "BF4 port forwarding two accounts" it should bring up a load of threads about it, If i get in early tonight ill see if i can dig some out.

  • Here's a link to portforward.com wich contains the specified ports you need to forward.

    Hey @kompete,

I did not mean that. I meant that your Xbox Gamertag where you play Battlefield with is also connected to the PC EA-account persona where you play Battlefield with? You can check this via https://myprofile.ea.com or via our Live Support via https://help.ea.com/contact-us.

If it is the case that they are connected to the same accounts, it is very normal that you can not play simultaneously on the same EA account, because this is sadly not possible. Only one platform account connected to the EA account can be used at any one time, if it is about the same game.

@EA_Leeuw Hi. Sorry I don’t know how to put this other than the accounts are completely separate in EVERY single respect. The only thing that’s the same is that we live in the same house and plug into the same router/modem. And as I said we have played other multiplayer games like Fortnite with separate accounts without any problems.

@kompete, so you are 100% certain that your Xbox account where you play Battlefield with is not connected to the EA Origin account for PC where you try to play Battlefield with simultaneously?
If you are certain of that, it is indeed most likely the case that there's an issue with your local network which is preventing you from playing the game simultaneously. I see that DeniedMercy has a nice worksheet posted with possible ports that can be forwarded to see if they fix the issue for you.
  • We have 2 PS4 consols and both are connected in same EA account. Is this reasons why we cant okay this. BF2042 game in same time. BF 4 works fine…

    Hey @joopajoo12,

Yes, indeed. If both are connected to the same EA account it is indeed the case that you can not play at the same time. This is because only one console persona of the same kind can play the game at any one time.
  • This is my issue. I have two games linked to one EA account. Is there any work around for this?

    Hey @wardogs158,

Do you mean two different console accounts linked to one and the same EA account for Battlefield 2042?

@wardogs158, ah alright. Yeah in that case it is possible that you're not able to play at the same time, unfortunately. This is because of the Cross-Platform Cross-Progression and only one persona can be used (that is connected to one and the same EA account) at any time.

@wardogs158, hmm, unfortunately you can't just transfer purchases over from one account to the other, so you gotta make another purchase on the new EA account in that case then, if you want to do this. Also please note that you will also not be able to make use of cross-progression in that case.
  • @EA_Leeuw I’m sorry that’s what I meant. I need to create a new EA account with gamepass for my PC? I’m not concerned about the cross-progression, so that’s not an issue. My goal is solely to play both platforms simultaneously.

@wardogs158, alright. Yeah, as long as you don't try to play simultaneously with the same EA account, you should be okay, as long as you are also not concerned about cross-progression.
  • I don’t even know if you’ll see this but when I go to port forward my router it has 1 box with port or port range on it not udp or the other one help please
