Breakthrough Too Short, Rush is Lacking, Why Not Combine the Two?

I have been playing a ton of Breakthrough far in Bf6, but 3 sectors is just too short and doesn't allow for fun gameplay. Both the beta maps, Liberation Peak and Siege of Cairo which both feel good for the most part with a few rough chokepoints that could use some adjusting; however, every other map is only 3 sectors.

With only 3 sectors, if you are defending and lose the first sector very quickly, it is almost impossible to regroup as a defense and stop the attackers in the last two sectors. I also feel that there are too many sectors that are completely made up of chokepoints, making the attacking side feel like a bloodbath to an ultimate defeat. On the other side, attacking just feels awful right now and downright unfun on most of the 3 sector maps (the main one to note is Mirak Valley, where I have it at least 5+ games and have never been able to get through the first sector attacking or had an attacking team break through the first sector).

Also, what is up with Breakthrough on Empire State? I was playing on defense, and the attacking team captured the sector with only 15 tickets remaining, yet when the second sector started, they had 260 tickets??? If that is intended, then that just completely defeats the purpose of Breakthrough and makes defending so difficult on that map. Honestly, I feel that Breakthrough needs a total rework on Empire State and desperately needs new areas to justify Breakthrough being a gamemode on that map.

I also feel like it's worth mentioning that it makes no sense that the two biggest maps, Mirak Valley and Operation Firestorm, only have 3 sectors. How is that possible? In my opinion, a breakthrough should have no fewer than 4 sectors, which is just enough for both sides to have a fair chance to regroup and win. With only 3 sectors, the games are over way too quickly and just don't feel like I really accomplished anything.

With Rush, it is just not fun. I have only played 3 or 4 games of Rush, and only one game did the attacking team manage to win, which was on the Iberian Offensive map. It just goes way too quickly, as getting to the objective involves running through wide open spaces (the main map to note is the first sector on Manhattan Bridge), and not enough medics using smokes. The open areas also discourage players from pushing up, which is also an issue in some breakthrough maps, with players just sitting back, making it even harder to win while attacking.

So, both of this brings me to my point of why are these modes not combined? They are both essentially the same thing, just Rush is smaller. Why not put these two together and allow for two separate types of objectives in a single gamemode? I feel like this would make both Breakthrough and Rush feel fresher and also would allow for the creation of MORE SECTORS on the maps. Honestly, if someone were to do this in Portal (I wish I were intuitive enough to be able to do it myself), I would play the hell out of this.

DICE, I hope this is found as positive feedback, and I want to make it clear that I am loving the game, but it feels as if both modes are lacking and are falling through on what previous installments gave us for the modes (different areas than just what the conquest maps are, up to 6 sectors with breakthrough on a single map, etc).

I hope this topic gets a lot of traction, as these changes would make the game so much better.

  • Breakthrough used to be the best game mode but they have somehow taken a successful mode and wrecked it. I guess that's partly the poor map designs.

I am actually enjoying the maps for the most part, but it seems like they do not want to create new areas for both Rush and Breakthrough like they did in the past to help extend the game's area. They just use the conquest map, which is the problem because they feel the need to avoid the completely open areas, rather than adding to it for the specific mods. This was the same issue in 2042, as there was just nothing on the maps. Even after they fixed it, they still just used the conquest maps, and it was never as fun as BF1 or 5.
