Closed weapon playlist
I have some concerns in regards to the "closed weapon versus open weapon" playlists.
I don't know how many people play Closed in australia versus Open, so I find myself going for open weapons in the hopes to just get into a game.
Instead of segregating the two sides, I believe there is a healthy middle ground to be found, in fact there has been in Battlefield 4!
Lock Sniper rifles, SMG's, Assault rifles, and LMG's to Recon, Engineer, Assault and Support accordingly.
And give all classes access to DMRs, Shotguns, and Carbines.
With how the guns have been balanced I feel this would be a fuss in the grand scheme of the game, a Carbines serve the roles of an Assault rifle, LMG and SMG depending on how you use the attachment system, aswell as which Carbine you pick in the first place.
DMR's serve as a mid to long range alternative for Engineer, Support, and Assault players looking to play more in the backlines like a Recon.
And Shotguns serve as close range alternatives for all classes.
I enjoy the unique role of being given a specialized made-for-your-role weapon, and i know others do too. But no one likes to be restricted either, which is why giving the options of Carbines, DMR's and Shotguns to every class would not shake the balance or upset players because of the breadth of the options the categories given to everyone offers!
Currently there has been a lot of people using SMG's in the meta for classes besides Engineer, and if those people were to be upset i believe another category could be made called PDW's.
SMG's that aren't engineer restricted and give their own unique take on the SMG weapon style, whether this category involves creating new guns, or moving certain SMG weapons into said spot, I believe this is a perfectly reasonable option with plenty of middle ground to offer both sides of the coin.
My main fear is having the community be so torn from what we have at the moment.
Weapon locked
Open Weapons
Hardcore
Casual
Potentially if people get more picky we could have the community segregated even further with:
Weapon locked
Open Weapons
Hardcore
Casual
Weapon Locked Hardcore
Open Weapons Hardcore
Casual Hardcore
Casual Weapon Locked Hardcore
Etc
It sounds like a joke when i write it out, but with the people I know who play Casual Breakthrough, they've been interested in playing Hardcore for the shake up, but find themselves playing Casual Breakthrough instead, after a long day you just want to blow off some steam.
And who says they can't play a more chill version of a more "realistic" gamemode, most of these people I speak to are dads who play slower games like Rising Storm and Arma, those games use realism predominantly while also having bots as an option.
Just food for thought, hoping to translate that this isn't just a "back in my day we had closed weapons", "change = bad" forum post. Because god knows we have enough of those people here and everywhere else on the internet.
