Core Feedback for BF6 – Player Since Battlefield 1942

Hi EA / Battlefield team,

I’ve been playing the Battlefield franchise since Battlefield 1942, and I’ve played every single title and expansion released to date. Battlefield 6 has incredible potential, but there are a few key elements that I believe are worth considering, either before launch or as part of future updates and support.

Please note that I have not yet had the opportunity to play the game myself. My comments reflect only what has been shared through official channels and community gameplay so far.

One of the most requested features by the community is the return of a full server browser, along with the ability for players to rent or host their own servers using their preferred hosting provider. This has always been a foundational part of Battlefield’s identity and community longevity. It’s not just about matchmaking, it’s about giving players control and ownership over their experience. That said, from what has been shown so far, the current server system still looks like a form of matchmaking, and unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any indication that a true server browser will be implemented. Despite being a long-standing and repeated request from the community, this feature continues to be overlooked, and I believe it’s something that deserves serious reconsideration.

Another defining feature of the franchise is destruction. While some destruction appears to be present in BF6, I haven’t yet seen the level of full-scale, dynamic destruction that we had in Bad Company 2, where entire buildings and map structures could be leveled. From the official presentation and after watching multiple streamers play the game, I noticed that many objects in the environment, like fences, barricades, and certain structures in open areas, stayed intact even after being hit by vehicles or sustained gunfire. I understand that not everything in a map can or should be fully destructible, especially for balance or technical reasons. But obvious elements like those should still react to player actions and feel destructible when it makes sense. Based on what’s been shown so far, destruction still feels somewhat limited. I really hope this aspect can keep evolving, because when destruction is impactful and unpredictable, it adds immersion, tactical depth, and brings back the raw chaos that made Bad Company 2 so memorable. Reactive environments have always been a key part of what makes Battlefield stand out, and it would be great to feel that again.

When it comes to progression, I want to emphasize the importance of classic systems like medals, ribbons, and assignments, which added real depth and motivation in games like BF2, BF3, and BF4. I truly hope to see a proper rank system, assignments that reward effort and teamplay, separate progression for classes, vehicles, and weapons, and meaningful unlocks, not just filler content. I also would have loved to see the return of the custom emblem editor, as it gave players a way to express themselves and build squad identity, but I understand that might not be part of the current UI and menu design.

I understand that Battlefield Portal will return, which could be a great tool for community creativity. However, there’s also a valid concern that many of these classic and essential features might end up locked behind Portal, as they were in BF2042, without real impact on the core game or progression. These systems should ideally be integrated into the main experience, not limited to a sandbox.

Battlefield 6 has massive potential, and the community has been very vocal about what they want across forums, social media, and streams. I truly hope the team is listening to both longtime veterans and new players alike. This is a great opportunity to bring the entire community back together and restore Battlefield to its roots.

Thank you for your time and dedication,
A loyal fan since 1942
