It's simple.
Big map modes: Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush = locked.
Small map modes: Dom, TDM, King of the Hill = unlocked.
This keeps both sides of the coin happy without dividing the player base too much. I played mostly locked conquest over the weekend, but I dabbled in some breakthrough to see how it felt unlocked and breakthrough felt awful by comparison because every solider was just a one man army. The flaws and drawbacks of locked weapons are a good game design choice because they stop engineers and supports from becoming overpowered and prevent recons from having TUGS + AR that just makes them impossible to root out sometimes.
Why are we trying to include and satisfy a group of gamers that don't want to play battlefield? Why do you want the Cod kids in the game at all?
Did you all forget you can just pick up other peoples gear off the ground?
Its always been open classed in that respect and that is good enough. Don't like? You don't belong. Go play COD, APEX, or any other soulless shooter.
