The VSSM Full Auto Upgrade Costs Too Much
I really like the recent idea of introducing weapon variants through upgrades instead of adding a completely separate weapon. It allows the developers to kill two birds with one stone.
Take the M16A4 for example. By equipping the Full Auto upgrade, you essentially turn it into an M16A3. I think that's a great approach because it satisfies both players who wanted the M16A4 and those who preferred the M16A3 without having to add two separate weapons.
However, I'm a bit disappointed with the VSSM. While it's possible to convert it into an AS VAL, the Full Auto upgrade costs far too many points in my opinion.
Once you equip that upgrade, it uses so many customization points that there's very little left for other attachments. What I don't understand is that the weapon's stats are already rebalanced and adjusted when Full Auto is selected, so why does it also need such a high point cost?
In my opinion, the cost should be similar to the M16A4's Full Auto upgrade. That would make the weapon variant system much more appealing. I believe weapon balance should come primarily from stat adjustments rather than consuming such a large portion of the customization budget.
Finally, I'd love to see this system expanded to other weapons as well. For example, it would be great if the MP5 could be converted into an MP5K through an upgrade, just like the M16A4 can become an M16A3 or the VSSM can become an AS VAL.
Overall, I think this variant system has a lot of potential, and I'd love to see DICE continue expanding it in future updates.
