Yes it can work with both roles, hence the Recon with the updated spec ops suggestion. Better chances at sneaking up to an objective or behind enemy lines, planting a beacon and causing havoc. Granted it won't be quite the same as when it was with Assault, but it's still something.
Looking back, a few other points if Assault was to lose the beacon and that went to back to Recon. An update to Assault could be a Zip line, similar to what we had in Hardline.
This when used in tandem with the ladder it would be fantastic for those who really want to get about the map, truly making them the masters of fast, aggressive mobile infantry play, which really suits the focus of the class.
And an update to the adrenaline injection where a small 20hp heal and self revive would be really welcomed as it currently doesn't provide much benefit.
Now that the adrenaline injection is now a healing gadget making the Medics bag the resupply source for it makes sense. Plus it gives the Medic class some extra utility over the support class, particularly in Redsec where the Medics utility is restricted to only one squad.
Since you're in a squad and can all drag revive the demand for a proper Medic isn't as high other than the medical healing pouch, so by having something unique to Medic that Assault benefits from is attractive.
Ooh just another thought, the drag revive that everyone can do on a squad mate requires a medipen, so what if this medipen has a charge? Each player has three medipens in normal Battlefield so they can perform three drag revives, the medical bag is used to resupply the medipens too.
That way Medic is helping with revives by actively doing them themselves and is also helping with revives passively by resupplying the medipens used for drag revives.
Back to Redsec, each player starts off with one Medipen each which is also the max capacity, so A can revive B, B can revive C, C can revive D.
The medic class can equip defibs and has a max Medipen capacity of three, so can now more reliably get the squad back up and can resupply the medipens pens for drag revives.
Which would not only give Medics some choice and flexibility in their load out, but make them very valuable.
Now that's spicy.
