Weekly Class Debrief - Support

Welcome everyone to the Weekly Class Debrief.

You know the drill! Each week we will be rotating through each player class to discuss everything from Balancing, best equipment/weapons to use, tips and more, YOU drive the discussion.

This week we're coming back round to talk about the Support class.

Last week we had some excellent discussion on Engineers  with some excellent points being made surrounding balance, particularly on the number of Rockets the class receives compared to previous games. On top of that we had some good feedback raised about how situationally the SMG tends to be more accurate than LMG's at range and how that doesn't quite feel right.

Appreciate you folks adding your points to the discussion and we'll get that feedback sent on!

This week we return to discussing the Support class, how does it feel right now, what would you change about the class if you could. What works right now and what doesn't quite hit the mark?

This discussion will stay up and running for the next week before we roll into our next discussion on another Class, the class up for discussion next week will be Assault

I play casual breakthrough to warm up and casually level up weapons.

    1. At the moment (and I suppose historically, since the beginning of BF games), most players are terrible teammates, and most of my revives come from the bots. However, it's not enough. I propose modifying the game's bots where classes other than support also have a low percentage where they will revive others (other bots/human players) to help emulate the fact classes other than support also revive. Perhaps code in a little extra incentive for good human player teammates, where a human player reviving bots has an increased chance of those non-bot support players reviving them.

    2. For unknown reasons, support bots often elect to use the manual revive rather than the defib, and the revive doesn't work, because they either die or, what's hopefully just a bug, they get damaged a tiny bit or something else in the immediate area "distracts" them and they stop the revive process.

    3. Non-support related, but it appears the Engineer bots select a launcher haphazardly, bringing out their Stingers when an APC shows up without helicopters on the map. Please fix. :)

    Thank you.

    Battlefield needs six classes imho:

    • Assault -> frontline breaching via grenade launchers, route creating via grappling hooks, ziplines and spawn control.
    • Medic -> medical supplies & revival, combat boosts and covering team mates via shelter gadgets like trophy system or barricade.
    • Support -> providing firesupport directly and indirectly, carrying ammo supplies for weapons, gadgets and vehicles. Only class which has access to machine guns.
    • Engineer -> fixing vehicles, gadgets, map assets, installations and Commander resources... , deploying AT and AP mines for defense, building fortifications. Only class which has access to shotguns.
    • Saboteur -> destroying vehicles, gadgets, map assets, installations and Commander resources... disrupting enemy intel and technology, carrying MANPATS or MANPADS and Satchel charges, C4, equipment suppression weaponry, radar signal jammers.
    • Recon -> scouting, reconnaissance, camouflage, target acquisition and disinformation warfare. Portable designator, spy drones, ghillie suit, decoy bait dummy, decoy signaling baiter, ground sensor, throwable sensor... Only class which has access to designated marksman rifles and bolt action rifles.
