Battlefield games - missing language installation options
I am having issues with selected Battlefield titles when trying to install the game - notably, I do not get the option to select English, I am lock to Polish and Russian only. And before anyone jumps in - yes, I have already submitted a support ticket (more on this below).
In years 2010-2020 I was a resident of the UK, I moved to Poland in 2020 and lived there ever since. The issue is inconsistent across various titles. My games in the library are as follows:
Battlefield 3 - Purchased in 2011 in the UK retail store - English available;
Battlefield 4 - Purchased in 2016 in the UK Origin app - English NOT available;
Battlefield 2042 - Purchased in 2021 in the Polish Origin app - English available;
Battlefield 1 - Purchased in 2023 in the Polish EA App - English NOT available;
Needless to say, I used to be able to play all of these tiles in English before. Something must have changed that is now preventing me to access the games in the language versions I have purchased them in. And before anyone jumps in that I must have purchased the Polish language version - as mentioned before, my BF4 copy was purchased in the UK in a retail store and I spend hundreds of hours playing it in English. As in for BF1, I have originally purchased incorrect copy with Polish language option, but I refunded the game immediately and purchased correct language version instead.
I suspect that the problem will likely be with the EA app and retirement of Origin store. Either licenses were not transferred correctly on the backend when EA was retiring the Origin app, or the EA app ignores the licensing position and uses only regional settings/presence to offer language options.
There is also another thing that I suspect might be the case - I have subscribed to Xbox PC Game Pass last year, which includes EA Play subscription. I wonder if that is interfering with games in Library, but it's hard to tell. I don't own Battlefield V, but I am able to play it in English via EA Play.
I have raised a support ticket with EA, got through Level 1 and to the tech resources, but they were not able to solve the problem for me despite trying. They have changed something at their end and asked me to try again, but the issue persists. They have submitted internal bug report and advised me to post on this forum to get more advice. They kept the ticket open, I have a reference number if anyone from EA wants to have a look at it.
On my own accord I have checked the basics to ensure the problem isn't on my side. I cleared the EA app cache, I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app with a reboot in between, but that didn't help.
I am hyped for BF6 (not hyped enough to pre-order, I've learned my lesson with BF2042) and I wanted to revisit some of the older titles before the launch (naturally I have already completed the BF6 reward track in BF2042). However, despite being a native Polish speaker, I refuse to engage with content in Polish language if English version exists for multitude of reasons. The only exception I've made to this rule in my 35+ years of gaming is The Witcher. I do not understand why Poland as a region is being gate-kept from English versions of the game, especially that we can't really be used as a region to VPN out to get better deals as we are pretty much as expensive as the Western store fronts. If BF6 launches on the EA app without English language option available in my region, I will look to alternative game stores to get the game and failing that - I will skip the game altogether, despite this gearing up to be the best game of the year for me.
