[Major Bug] Crashing with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED + Can’t Shoot, Sprint, or Reload (Battlefield Labs Alpha & 2042, PC)

Platform: PC
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti
Mouse: Corsair (exact model unknown)
OS: Windows 11
Games Affected: Battlefield Labs Alpha, Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 1
NVIDIA Driver: Latest Game Ready Driver (clean installed with DDU)
Crash Error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED with GetDeviceRemovedReason()

Issue Summary:

I’m encountering two persistent and game-breaking issues in both Battlefield Labs Alpha and Battlefield 2042:

 1. Game Crashes: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
    •    Game frequently crashes mid-match or at launch
    •    Full error:

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
GetDeviceRemovedReason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG

    •    Clean installed latest NVIDIA drivers (using DDU in Safe Mode)
    •    Running on a 4070 Ti, no overclocking, stable system otherwise
    •    TdrDelay registry keys set (TdrDelay = 10, TdrDdiDelay = 20)
    •    Launch options added to force DX11 and cap FPS:

-RenderDevice.Dx12Enable 0 -GameTime.MaxVariableFps 90 -nojoy -fullscreen

 2. Stuck Input Bug: Can’t Shoot, Sprint, or Reload
    •    As soon as I enter a match:
    •    My weapon auto-fires continuously
    •    I cannot stop firing, reload, or sprint
    •    Happens in both Labs Alpha and BF2042
    •    Tried completely deleting config files, disabling cloud saves, and repairing game
    •    Tried full clean boot (MSConfig), no overlays, and all background apps off
    •    Disabling Corsair iCUE didn’t help
    •    Issue may be related to Corsair mouse hardware or drivers — testing basic mouse now

 Troubleshooting Already Done:

 Disabled DX12 with launch option
Clean NVIDIA driver install using DDU
 Tdr registry edits
Disabled iCUE, all overlays, cloud saves
Deleted and reset all game config files
 Repaired game via EA App
Clean boot with non-essential services disabled
Testing alternative mouse to isolate input bug

  • I would try and clean install driver version 566.36.  That's the one that fixed all my issues with my rtx 4080 Super.

I would reset all those to default instead:

    •    TdrDelay registry keys set (TdrDelay = 10, TdrDdiDelay = 20)
    •   Launch options added to force DX11 and cap FPS:
    • RenderDevice.Dx12Enable 0
    • GameTime.MaxVariableFps 90 -nojoy -fullscreen
  • This error is usually caused by an unstable hardware component. It could be caused by the CPU, GPU, or RAM being unstable.

Try disabling any CPU or RAM overclocking. For example disable XMP RAM overclocking in BIOS and see if the game stops crashing.

If you have a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU they're known to have manufacturing defects that cause the CPU to be unstable. Upgrading to the latest motherboard BIOS version may help stabilize the CPU.

There's RAM test apps such as HCI MemTest for testing RAM memory for errors. Some memory testing apps are better at detecting errors. I've had good success with HCI MemTest.
