INDEX FILE - An error occured while trying to complete your request

At the splash screen when it says to press any button I immediately get this error and cannot progress beyond this point.  I've reinstalled the game, and moved it from hard drive to hard drive.  I've disabled all firewalls on my computer.  Nothing seems to help right now.  Has anyone found a solution for this yet? I've seen a ton of posts but nothing with a concrete fix.

This is on a fresh install and a newly built PC.  No previous instances of the game exist on this machine.

  • I got this same issue. The game worked just fine couple of days ago but today (after the latest patch?) I also get this error.

  • Just bought the game today, digitally, and having the exact same problem. I've deleted shader cache, uninstalled and reinstalled, drivers are updated, PC has been restarted, tried to repair the game -- nothing is working. Highly frustrating.

I have the same issue. I re-installed the game and the error is still there.

I have a solution. My Windows Defender blocked the acces to the savegames folder (don't know why it worked 10h before). So I allowed the game to access the folders (in Windows Defender) and now it's working fine.

  • Same problem, turned off windows defender entirely, updated all the drivers, tried installing on two different ssds, tried the Steam version and the EA Play version,  no joy, same error every single time.

If you go in the Windows Protection history, do you see that Windows was blocking Dragon Age from your (maybe OneDrive) folders? If yes, just allow DragonAge to do so (under Actions). At least that worked for me.

  • When you type "dxdiag" in the Windows search bar by the "start" menu, you can bring up the DirectX 12 dialog window. Make sure it says the program is working properly. The display tab should show your graphics card.

Near the top of the Settings sheet you attached is the DxDiag section. Under the Display Tab 3 settings, it says there's a problem with your AMD Ratheon device, but scrolling down it says you're using a Geforce 3060 ti.

It looks like your DX12 is connecting to some AMD GPU, while you're using a 3060 gtx GPU. Go into your Nvidia control panel, Manage 3D settings, and check the CUDA choices. You don't want auto, you want to pick the 3060.
