EA Desktop App installer breaks Origin's The Sims 4 installation

Summary: The Sims 4 will not recognize any expansion packs anymore, if the game was installed via Origin and new expansion packs were activated and installed via the EA Desktop App.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install The Sims 4 via Origin.

2. Start the game, all bought expansion packs are available and playable. Close the game again.

3. Activate a new expansion pack in the EA Desktop App.

4. Install the new expansion pack via the EA Desktop App.

5. Start the game. All bought expansion packs are labled as "owned", but not available ingame.

Running the game repair via Origin or the EA Desktop App does not fix the problem.

  • The last game update fixed the problem with the DLCs not being found by the game.

I can now load my game saves again without any error message.
