EA account linking system is basically the final boss of gaming paperwork

I am trying to link my Steam account to my original EA account, but I am unable to do so due to a cooldown restriction. I have been in contact with EA support for a month regarding this, and I am being told I must wait an additional 5 months (to complete a 6 month or 365day wait period). I have already purchased a game on Steam and would like to play it immediately. However, I am concerned that creating a new EA account will result in my progress and library being scattered across multiple emails. Is there any way to waive this cooldown so I can access my purchase on my primary account?

Has anyone found a workaround for this, or am I just stuck waiting

wait out the 5 months or buy it directly on the EA App later. It’s better than losing your "OG" status.?

I am the verified owner of both the Steam and EA accounts. As a long time customer, I am frustrated that I cannot play a newly purchased game on my primary account. I am asking for a one time manual override of the linking cooldown so I can consolidate my library. Creating a second account is not a viable solution as it would split my progress and purchases

The Positive: You can play the game immediately.

The Negative: Your Steam account is now officially linked to that new email. If you want to move Steam back to your OG EA Account in 5 months, you will likely have to face another 6 to 12 month cooldown starting from that day.

The Progress: Any skins, levels, or achievements you earn in this game will stay on the new email forever. They will not transfer to your OG account later.

btw, I've spoken to more than 11 EA advisors and have been struggling for a month, yet no work has been done.

  • Hey Mubaris_khan if being told that you must wait for a period of time before linking accounts, then this would be the case.  And there would be nothing we could do to speed it up.

The account unlinking article does call out the 6 month time frame.

Linking other accounts and then merging later means that you may lose data, unlocks and so on.

We can pass the feedback on to the team.

Understand the frustration Mubaris_khan but we cannot help you get around the relinking restrictions.

You will need to wait for the time to pass.

But the reason I unlinked a month ago was that I didn’t recognize the generated username, as shown in the reference picture I uploaded. I was trying to link it to the same email I used before, but EA Support forced me to unlink it. Now that I’m trying to relink, I’m getting a 'wait 6 months' error. The only solution now is for EA Support to manually link the account I was originally using so I can finally download the games I paid for and enjoy them during this brief period of happiness in my life
