Is the Matchmaking System in Online Seasons Truly Fair?

Playing in Division 4 doesn't mean your opponents are in the same Div. In History you can check the level of the last players you played against. Most of my opponents are higher ranked.

I don't know if there is some sort of algorithm behind the matchmaking itself, but i did notice that if i lose a few games in a row, i get matched against 'lower' teams. Once I win a few, it's all Real Madrid, Liverpool and France
