FC 26: At what point does "User Error" become "Software Sabotage"?
I’m writing this because the community is tired of being gaslit. We are constantly told that DDA (Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment) or "scripting" doesn't exist in a competitive environment. Fine. Let’s stop using those acronyms. Let’s talk about deterministic gameplay vs. artificial interference.
1. The Illusion of Control (Input Override)
We’ve all been there: you aim a 45-degree pass to the top-right, yet the game engine forces a logic that sends the ball bottom-right, directly into the path of an opponent. This isn't "stat-based RNG"; it’s a blatant override of user input. When open-net sitters defy the laws of physics—veering wide as if repelled by a magnetic field—it’s no longer a simulation. It’s a scripted outcome disguised as gameplay.
2. Asymmetrical AI Awareness
The inconsistency in AI positioning is staggering. In the same match, one team will maintain a perfect high-press and lethal marking, while the other team’s defenders actively step away from the ball carrier or "freeze" mid-run. We are not "failing to adapt"—we are watching our AI-controlled teammates be intentionally throttled to create "dramatic" scoring opportunities for the opposition.
3. The "Hand-Holding" Narrative
It is demoralizing to play against an opponent who clearly lacks fundamental mechanics, only to see them rewarded with a "low-percentage" wonder goal while your own players feel like they’re running through wet cement. When the game engine artificially nerfs a skilled player to keep a less-skilled one engaged, the competitive integrity of the franchise is dead.
4. Frustration is not a Feature
There is a fine line between a challenging game and a manipulative one. If the goal is to drive engagement through frustration, realize that you are instead driving away your most dedicated player base. We aren't "bad at the game"—we are tired of playing against a code that decides when we are allowed to win.
Bottom Line
You can delete this post, and you can keep denying the existence of these mechanics. But the community isn't blind. We want a game where the better player wins, where inputs are respected, and where the "drama" comes from the users, not the algorithm.
Stop the gaslighting. Fix the integrity of the pitch.
