Pack Probability Transparency – UK/EU Consumer Law Perspective

Dear EA Sports,

I would like to raise a concern regarding the visibility of pack probabilities in FUT, particularly in relation to reward packs.

Under UK and EU consumer protection frameworks — including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive — there is a clear expectation that digital products provide transparent and non-misleading information to consumers, especially where outcomes are based on chance.

In FUT, purchased packs display probability odds, which aligns with this principle of transparency. However, reward packs do not consistently provide the same level of information.

While reward packs are not directly purchased as standalone items, they are part of a paid product ecosystem. Players purchase access to the game and engage with systems (objectives, SBCs, progression loops) that generate these packs. From a consumer perspective, these are not entirely separate from the overall product offering.

This raises an important question of consistency:

If probability disclosure is necessary for purchased packs,
should the same standard apply to all packs within the same system?

Even if not strictly required in all cases, the current approach creates an inconsistency in how information is presented to users.

Additionally, UK guidance from bodies such as the Competition and Markets Authority has emphasised the importance of clear, upfront information in digital products, particularly where randomised outcomes and engagement loops are involved.

To be clear, this is not about requesting guaranteed outcomes or increased pack weight. It is about ensuring that all systems involving chance operate with consistent transparency.

Providing probability information across all pack types — including rewards — would:
