FC 26 won't launch due to corrupted Javelin Anti-Cheat files

I've bought this game 2 days ago on sale through Steam, and this is the first time in a long time that none of the troubleshooting methods I've tried myself and online actually worked.

When I press "Play" on Steam,  it launches a small screen that says "Preparing to launch..." - nothing weird so far;  it's when it reaches the splash screen that things get strange. A small text saying "Starting Javelin Anti-Cheat..." appears at the bottom of the splash screen for 10 seconds and disappears, followed up with a flashing display of the EA app that lasts one second and a message saying  "Failed to launch game. An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later."

Naturally, I then went on ahead and returned to Steam to "Verify integrity of game files", which then showed me (through the content_log.txt in the steam logs) that the 3 files that failed to validate were:
- EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.dll
- EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe
- preloader_l.dll

After Steam was done validating and "fixing" those 3 files, I booted up the game again but lo and behold the same "Failed to launch game. An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later." message appeared; I verified the integrity of the game files on Steam again and the same 3 files were corrupted again.

I've scourged the internet looking for answers, but I'm at a loss.

To fix this issue I have:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the game and the EA App, both in the original and different drives;
- Ran the app and the game in Compatibility with Windows 8 and with admin priviledges;
- Downloaded the EAAntiCheat.Installer, Repaired, then Uninstalled, then Installed again the certificate on FC 26
- Added the EA app, Steam and FC 26 to the exception in Windows Firewall
- Reinstalled VC_Redist
- Uninstalled the EA Anti-Cheat manually, as well as the necessary folders, and reinstalled them
- Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers through a clean install
- Disabled every background service app
- And of course, I've rebooted my PC several times.

I went to check if this was a FC 26 problem only or something bigger, so I installed FC 24 again on Steam just to check, and lo and behold it wouldn't start neither - giving me the same "Failed to launch game. An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later." message on the EA app.

Now this has something to either do with the app itself (unlikely, as I've reinstalled it many times) or the Javelin Anti-Cheat, which fails to launch every time with either FC26 or FC 24. I would really hope that someone higher-up could say if this was a buggy patch on the anti-cheat or if I'm missing something completely here... Please help a guy out here.

  • I've found my fix. I had to uninstall EVERY SINGLE PERFORMANCE MONITORING APP that I had on my PC. Also other minor apps that I didn't use in a long time that could affect the Anti Cheat. As soon as I deleted the apps and pressed Play on FC 24 I could play again, no worries.

    hello can you please say what did you do exactly

    i did clean boot on my system and once i could finally launch but after that i still have that same issue i cant launch anymore

    im having this issue since 2 weeks bro please help me

  • Hey, so monitoring apps are 3rd party softwares that you may have installed when you received your PC that track everything that you do on it. So apps like MSI Afterburner (or anything MSI, really), AIDA64, Logitec HUB, any of those apps; and it's not enough that you stop the processes, you HAVE TO UNINSTALL THEM. Only after doing all that is when I was able to launch the game (after verifying integrity of files, just to be safe), no worries.

    Try to uninstall every other background monitor app before doing the same for NVIDIA; I didn't need to uninstall it for the game to launch properly but each case is different. Even apps that you don't think are active on the background like Portmaster which is like a VPN host could be the culprit.

  • Are you going to drive us crazy and want to know what the reasons are?? I don't have any tracking apps, but I found one reason that is the only one that is to blame Source: denuvo-anti-cheat-update-service....

    Search and open the Event Viewer app. Then, start your game and wait until it crashes. The Event Viewer will log the crash and present you with the details, and if it shows an error code like 0xfffffffff or something like that, there’s still a background service that is active and hasn’t been uninstalled. Also try to disable the in-game overlay for EA, Steam and NVIDIA if it helps.
