Whenever I load up ultimate team my game just says connecting to ultimate team is not possible at the moment. You will now be returned to the main menu. It’s not like I’m banned because I can use the companion app and my history shows no offences.

Can you try going into your team via the companion app and deleting your squad? Not the players themselves! Just the squad.
If that doesn't work, can you try using the steps in this article to delete potentially corrupt files within your game?
