PC (AMD Ryzen 6800U) – Slow motion gameplay + fan RPM drops to 0 (FPS stable)
Issue:
On PC systems using AMD Ryzen 6800U (handheld APU), EA SPORTS FC enters slow-motion gameplay after a short time, while FPS remains stable. At the same time, system fan RPM is reported as 0 and CPU frequency drops.
Details:
- Game starts normally, then gameplay speed slows down (simulation runs slower)
- FPS remains stable (no stuttering or drops)
- CPU frequency dynamically downclocks during gameplay
- Fan RPM is reported as 0 while temperatures are still high
- Fan behavior is overridden only when EA SPORTS FC is running
- Issue occurs only in EA SPORTS FC (all other games behave normally)
- Reproducible consistently

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 6800U
- GPU: Integrated RDNA2

- OS: Windows 11
- Platform: Steam version
What was tested:
- Clean Windows install
- Steam overlay OFF
- No FPS cap / VSync OFF
- Borderless fullscreen
- No background software
- Aya Neo control software closed
- Fan manually confirmed spinning physically, but RPM telemetry reports 0
- BIOS is locked (no CPU frequency control available)
- Issue only occurs in EA SPORTS FC
Conclusion:
This appears to be a fixed-step simulation timing issue interacting with dynamic CPU frequency scaling on AMD mobile APUs. When CPU frequency changes, the game simulation clock desynchronizes, causing slow-motion gameplay. Additionally, EA SPORTS FC seems to trigger incorrect fan RPM / power state behavior on handheld PCs, reporting 0 RPM and contributing to further throttling.
