Does Chem/ratings not mean anything?

So I was playing last night and I have a pacey up front striker mbuemo or whatever 89 pac. My team chem is 29. I also have buyako saka. Opponent on that side has Ruben Dias who has 56 pac I believe and his total team chem was 17. Dias was running down my striker and wing from behind and his team was passing the ball like the Harlem Globetrotters and wasn't effected by chem or pace rating. And it's not the first time. Is it the game or what?
