@TheSprinter85It gets kind of depressing ehen you realize the last hunt was years ago.
The mystery portal being changed could only ever be a good thing in the end as it would breath new life into a series that at the moment is very stagnant.
@stukapooka when it returns, I'm going to play until my thumbs fall off #bringbackbosshunt
- stukapooka2 years agoLegend@ForeverKnights My defensive spawnable count will be drained dry. I already have all the gnome hats but i'd keep playing it for fun and to help other players. My max ranked toxic brainz won't have seen that much action since I grinded him in ops games.
- DeathBugg2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@ForeverKnights Agreed. I literally love it so much that i will play until i get bored and i wont get bored
- DeathBugg2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@stukapooka Also i think boss hunt packs will return since those are triggered during biss hunts unless ea has to enable them manually and not automatic.
Ea, if boss hunts return, can you also give the reinforcement packs too during boss hunt months please so that we can get bots and pots easier during boss hunt times. - stukapooka2 years agoLegend@DeathBugg I wanna spam the map in uplink bots and watch the light show.

Even if the special "Boss Hunt" sticker packs do not return alongside the Boss Hunts, I would simply open lots of Minions Booster Packs instead and use those for Self Revives, Team Retries and Pots/Bots during these hunts. I barely remember those Sticker Packs actually, although do recall that I would buy them often while a Boss Hunt event was going on.
It has indeed been quite a while since we have been able to play these great game modes, although I didn't realise how long it has been until recently. I have recently been going through some of the older threads on this forum and even back in 2021 and 2022, we were still hoping for a change to the Mystery Portal. @EA_Shepard has been forwarding our feedback to the higher ups, so I really hope that it won't be much longer before we can play our favourite Mystery Portal modes again, and since then, there's been even more community engagement so hoping for the best. Fingers crossed! 🤞

@TheSprinter85 Yeah, the minions boosters are kinda op, since you can get a lot of consumables from opening a bunch. Especially during festivus and lawn of doom, since all of the packs have one extra. And during holidays, i buy a bunch of seasonal packs to stock up on seasonals, so i can use those instead. I have over 200 candy uplink bots and pumpkin head zombies and halloweeds from this year. I really stocked up this year. I really like how uplink bots and bamboo shoots are easy to get during seasons, since they are so rare. Somethig else i like is how in boss hunts you can place pots/bots all around the whole map after you place the bait.
@EA_Shepard, any news yet?
- stukapooka2 years agoLegend@DeathBugg Getting airtrike spawnables is always good since their range allows them to practically blanket the map.
Lawn of doom was s tier since it gave candy uplink bots in such mass over regular uplink. - ForeverKnights2 years agoNot applicable@stukapooka to each his own, either way, we're all on the same page, boss hunt needs to return
- TheSprinter852 years agoHero@DeathBugg I greatly appreciate being able to use Lawn of Doom and Feastivus events to get additional stickers every year. It saves a lot of money overall and I really like all of the designs of the seasonal consumables as well. Even though they are more expensive, they are worth it and you can use the seasonal events to get specific pot/bot variants more consistently. I have tons of these summonables which I could save for Boss Hunts. It might be worth stocking up on even more Self Revives and Team Retries as well as they would be so useful.

@DeathBugg I'm sure @EA_Shepard will give us an update on the situation as soon as he gets news from the team. Probably in a few days or so.
I really hope he has good news for us soon.
- Hieldanka2 years agoNot applicable@VendetedFox I hope so, all this waiting is killing me
- stukapooka2 years agoLegend@Hieldanka Waiting is always the worst part as it builds anticipation.
If it fails and their gonna let us down i would atleast prefer they make it quick rather than drag our hopes out like this. - ManicMossie2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
I am sorry guys, but I believe that it will be a long wait. This isn’t just a question of turning on a portal for a couple of game modes, as there are a number of important things that need to be looked at to make the game viable again, as it would otherwise be rather pointless. It’s a strategic decision as it involves moving capacity in the form of game maintenance teams to a game that has been discontinued for four years and is clearly open to hacking.
- stukapooka2 years agoLegend
@ManicMossieYou're probably right but if so then this all goes back to the issue of why they created such a lackluster rotation in the first place since it was just gonna leave fans unsatisfied.
Most of us just want to see if anything will happen at all regardless of how long it takes.
- ManicMossie2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
stukapooka Absolutely agree. We can only wait it out and hope for the best.
Re. the lackluster rotation, I think PopCap at the time were expecting GW2 to die of disinterest from us, the community, with the launch of BfN, never understanding what it was that made GW2 so successful and therefore never implementing it in BfN.
The marketing (and gaming) disaster that BfN became threw them off track to the extent that the Garden Warfare franchise in general was just left to die a slow death. With EA_Shepard now a standard bearer for a revitalised and enthusiastic community there might be a good chance of the higher-ups actually reinvigorating the game.

@ManicMossieBfn was the orphaned frankesnteins monster of the sadly scrapped project hot tub game which looked far more promising and had several art works and concepts for locations bfn took.
The sad death of that rather promising game through no fault of its own seems to have harmed pvz as a whole. You can notice a rapid shift in pvz after 2018.
Regarding bfn itself i just don't know what they were going for there as it feels like a sad attempt to replicate overwatch despite the fact that pvz fans loved gw for what it was already and just wanted more of an already good thing. Hence the excitement and joy the community had when wallnut hills came to gw2 and the community thought it was a revitalization of gw2.
I haven't seen a studio not understand why people liked their franchise this badly and tried to massively course correct since halo 4 tried to follow call of duty or star fox constantly redoing 64 and making it worse everytime. Pvz 3 sadly seemed to be following the same path.
Even if bfn was to be made they should've given it much more than 1 year to be made. Yeah gw2 was made in a similar timespan but it was a direct sequel to gw1 and could reuse assests.
They had the perfect opportunity to work on the game while slowly keeping the community entertained by minor gw2 content.
Pvz as a whole makes me sad right now. Pvz 3 and bfn just feel like they have no idea of what to do with the series or what made it successful and we have literally no communication with the team as we keep getting meager pvz 2 updates that everyone seems to agree are lazily animated and done to wring just a bit more money out of the game. Here's scaredy shroom but somehow worse, lets take out all the fun music and minigames because they "use to much memory" (my brother in christ you are the ones who chose to make the game mobile only).
I'm use to being let down certain franchises such as the aforementioned star fox and more but pvz especially hurts because the quality was a lot more consistent throughout the years. We are in the decline and dark age of pvz and if something isn't done we may very well also witness its end.
- Hieldanka2 years agoNot applicable@stukapooka agreed, but something tells me that our efforts will not be in vain

stukapooka Interesting albeit slightly upsetting reading when taken together with your piece "Discussion: Content removed from GW2", as any hopes for a revitalized GW2 seem to be pretty grim. Just hope that EA_Shepard 's feedback on the strength of the Community's yearning for an invigorated GW2 will bear fruit.
- TheSprinter852 years agoHero@ManicMossie I never truly realised how much content we lost when GW2 lost support. I almost forgot completely about Hero Showcases, and Rux does not sell anywhere near as much items as he used to, although we can still purchase alternate abilities at least. With this new surge of community engagement, there's a decent possibility that the once removed content could finally make a return.
- ManicMossie2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
@TheSprinter85I honestly hope you are right. There is just so much that has to be done to get the game back on track that I’m wondering whether EA will go the whole hog and get the game up and running again.
Even if we don’t get it all back then as long as they get the Boss Hunts with the associated bots back and in addition fix the hacking I believe I could live with a denuded GW2.
- ManicMossie2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
Have noticed that rather than EA_Shepard responding to queries, we are now seeing EA_Illium and EA_Barry doing the job. I wonder why. Sorry if I sound excessively paranoid about this, but is EA_Shepard giving too much hope to the Community?

It's good to see discussions on these games be move active! I'll have to also be more active to join in the discussions that are popping up more often as well.
I have to agree with the others here of course, we need better events in the mystery portal in GW2! People need their trophies, so we need boss hunts and cats vs dinos, and we want the more enjoyable events like capture the taco and soil survivors. We really don't need lawn-a-thon with speed boost for the umpteenth time!
- stukapooka2 years agoLegend@ManicMossie He's still responding to certain posts. We just have to be patient but i get how difficult that is right now.

GW2 is one of those rare gems that many of us still play even after unlocking everything. The first GW game is great too, but it doesn't have the Backyard Battleground or as much PvE stuff as GW2 has to do, and GW2 has proven it can keep people enjoying it (barring some issues like hacking on PC of course), for years after being put in maintenance mode.
With the sudden attention after so much silence, I hope this means we have good news for these great shooters (and I include BfN in this, even if it just can't measure up to GW and GW2), but especially for GW2 and one dares to wish for a potential GW3 in the future. Better GW2 mystery portals would be one thing the community needs.
- stukapooka2 years agoLegend@Iron_Guard8 The community desperately needs one W right now and shepard has given hope to the community that something may happen and at the very least that people are listening now.
