I mean idk it is purely speculation but I really don’t see any technical reason why couldn’t they just automate Mystery Portal to be more frequent and feature more modes, pretty sure all the GW2 live stuff is automated anyway. All Mystery Portals are always on a set schedule, Rux, certain festive packs and there’s the sleepy bat NPC always appears in October (yet for some reason all other seasonal NPCs like the rabbit and the gnome are no longer used). Tale of the Taco according to some dataminer leaks was supposed to be a tie-in event to BFN but the whole BFN tie-in got scrapped. Honestly I would’ve made Tale of the Taco into a yearly summer event (with that giant taco and the Backyard Battleground decorations).
@JosephPopper1The fact they didnt create a better set schedule is baffling. They were able to make sure Rux sells all the alts but not include fan favorite gamemodes? Lets not forget how quickly they fixed Rux either despite support for the game being over for a while.
I wouldn't doubt it being a move to push plauers and dev time to bfn as they didnt wanna be split between two games and a lot of players quickly moved back to gw2 after founders since the game really just didnt have much going for it and a lot of pvz youtubers straight up admitted they enjoyed 2 more and it was the better games for views
Really the late 2018-early 2019 era of gw2 just overall feels unfinished. I'm gonna go more in depth on some of this stuff in my 8th anniversary post.
