@MrJT-Archive Valid question. The messaging I post comes from above right? I can't say something that may or may not happen or be the reason. I am getting more info on that though because it's a great question and it will be asked a lot on here too. When I have an answer, I will make sure to post that as well!
@EA_ShepardI guess the question people are asking is neccesarily how a portal schedule fix would be all that different from something like fixing Rux a few months back or making a new anti cheat system. Both fixes clearly made to help the player base.
Or how modders are capable of these things in mass but not officially. Something with servers right? Not very technologically literate.
Do we just have to wait for it to break at this point for a fix like Rux?
I guess fans just want a detailed description of why its not possible compared to the other two?

@stukapooka I mean, to be honest it's pretty clear. Both of these were direct impacts on profit/got an extreme amount of reports to where it couldn't be ignored. Rux as a system is part of how GW2 still earns money (and there are people who end up buying coins to get his items), and selling a product with such a severe exploit on PC couldn't be ignored. Mystery Portal can be ignored despite the massive outcry for it to be improved (and it's not like we were asking for a lot, just simple swap-outs of existing portals with older portals) because it's simply not a system that directly generates profit. It's not broken, it just kind of sucks for the players. It's stupid, and even if there's potential improvements to retention/sales from people coming back to the game to replay modes that they haven't played since 2019 it's not enough to justify it in the studio's eyes. Those resources (even if it would probably quite literally take less than an hour to do, the rotation is likely stored in files on the servers and likely wouldn't take a lot of time to do) would be better spent on newer games (which are also not PvZ, most PopCap Vancouver devs got pulled to work on EA's more profitable projects after BFN). Despite the fact that they actively have people messing with the servers in efforts to fix the ban exploit on PC, they're just not going to do it.
Though what I find very frustrating is the fact that nearly all PC players have had their rank data wiped. Inferring how the servers work here, there's likely no backups of previous saves that can just be applied to the game, and all of our ranks have been reset. Considering that this hasn't already been fixed and nothing seems to be being done to actually address it (other AHQ posts mention devs still trying to investigate it and don't seem to know that it is quite literally everyone on PC who logs on), I find it extremely unlikely that the issue will actually be resolved. If this were a temporary issue caused by server errors, it would've fixed itself by now like it has in the past. Save data backups at this point would be too hard to override, and I find it unlikely that backups even exist, as there would be way too much data to have went through to back up. They screwed up and the overwhelming majority of us on PC have likely lost over 8 years of saved progression permanently, and we're not going to get the goodwill of simplistic changes to the Mystery Portal schedule that could potentially at least make up for losing progression. It honestly is just frustrating and disappointing to be a fan of this franchise anymore, not a single good thing has happened for PvZ since 2019 and it is honestly just tiring at this point.
I hope I have not come off as rude or anything to any developers. Not trying to, just really, really frustrated and fed up with how our community is treated. Yeah, these games are old, but PvZ2 is 11 years old and still getting content updates. What other issue could there be other than profits, especially when people are actually around right now that could do these very small changes? - stukapooka1 year agoLegend
@PvZABFanI don't think you're being rude at all. They say the opposite of love isnt hate but apathy after all and i believe the community's reached that state a while back.
I could go tear pvz 3 a new one. Take it apart bit by bit and explain why it just doesnt work. But i just don't have that kind of energy against it. We all know its sucks and fall short at this point so what else can really be said?
2 does get updated and apparently makes millions but we must also look at what's become of it over time. Power creep and more. Ironic how the argument was that a pvz 2 plant could buy the first game and now buying powers in 3 could've got you an actual plant in 2 wtf is this man. You're right. It simply just doesnt make money despite the fact it would add more reasons for people to get the game. I know some friends who would've loved to play the hunts as they loved raid boss events in other games.
Rux never got the torchwood and hover goat coametics in rotation but of course they made it to the microtransactions packs.
It's amazing to me how a game that has been left alone since it no longer gets content updates somehow keeps managing to self destruct randomly at everyturn. We may get anti cheat but now theres another crisis with PC.
Agreed. 2019 was the last years anything positive was really going on with the series and none of us ever knew what a crapshow it would become. The fact that we now know a private play list for boss hunt exists really just dives the knife in deeper of what got scrapped and ended up hurting the game in the long run.
Seems that with the information of the other vancouver projects that were scrapped it seems the management at popcap, EA, or whoever meeds to change as the decisions being made are actively killing the series. - 1 year ago@PvZABFan Well said.
