Hello! I understand how frustrating it is to sit down to play a game that won't load, won't start or the loading bar freezes at the same spot every single time.

Either way, this isn't anyone's fault. Our browsers, devices, and apps update constantly, and each update can quietly change a setting, reset a permission, or use up resources without us ever knowing. Something is just quietly stopping it right before it finishes loading, often something on our own setup (which the steps below will help you fix).

Why does it stop at the same spot or not load?

Poker Town is a live, real-time multiplayer game, so partway through loading, it has to do two things at once: reach out and connect to the game servers to find other players and have enough clean space and memory on your device to finish. If it can't complete one of those, it simply stalls, no error message, it just stops.

The steps below tackle the most common causes, starting with the easiest. Try one, test the game, and only move on if you're still stuck.

Give it a fresh start (and some breathing room)

    • Low memory is one of the most common reasons a game freezes partway, especially if you've been browsing a while or have a lot open.
    • Close extra browser tabs and any other programs running in the background. They use up the memory Poker Town needs to load.
    • Fully close and reopen your browser. Even better, restart your device, this clears out the memory and gives the game a clean slate.
    • Then try Poker Town again. You'd be surprised how often this alone does it.

Try Private or Incognito Mode: This is a quick test that bypasses your extensions, cookies, and cached data all at once:

    • Chrome or Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
    • Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
    • Safari (iPhone/iPad/Mac): Tap the tabs icon and choose Private
    • Now load Poker Town
    • If it works in private mode, the culprit is one of those three things, an extension, your cookies, or cached data. The next steps will help you find which.

Turn off your Browser Extensions: The most common troublemakers are ad blockers and privacy tools: uBlock Origin, AdBlock, AdBlock Plus, Privacy Badger, and any VPN extensions.

    • Go to your browser's Settings → Extensions
    • Turn them all off and test Poker Town
    • If it works, turn them back on one at a time to find the guilty one
    • Once you've found it, you can usually add pogo.com to its whitelist (its "allowed sites" list) so you never have to turn it off again.

Check your antivirus or security software: Multiplayer games make live connections that single-player games don't, and some security programs block these quietly.

    • Open your antivirus or security software
    • Look for a Firewall, Web Shield, or Network Protection section
    • Add pogo.com as a trusted/allowed site
    • Test Poker Town

Restart your router or modem (Power Cycling): Not just your computer — your actual router or modem. They can get into a state where they block certain live connections, and a full power cycle clears it:

    • Unplug it from the wall completely
    • Wait a minute or two
    • Plug it back in and let it fully reconnect
    • Try Poker Town again
    • 🤓 Fun fact: Modems and routers are like little computers, they store information and receive updates too, so they need a restart now and then to run their best.

Clear your browser cache: Poker Town is a newer game that's had several updates, and old saved data can get in the way. (Heads up: this will log you out of websites, so you'll need to sign back in afterward. Make sure you have them written down.)

    • Chrome / Edge / Firefox: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete, set the time range to All Time, check Cached images and files and Cookies and site data, then click Clear
    • Safari (Mac): Safari menu → Clear History → All History
    • Safari (iPhone/iPad): Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data
    • Close your browser completely, reopen it, and try again.

Turn off your VPN: If you use a VPN on your device or your router, switch it off and try loading the game. VPNs very often interfere with real-time multiplayer connections and cause exactly this kind of stall.

Try a different Browser: If one browser won't cooperate, another often will, and they're all free:

    • On Edge? Try Chrome or Firefox
    • On Chrome? Try Firefox or Edge
    • If Poker Town loads in a different browser, you've found your answer — just play there going forward. (Desktop and laptop players: you can also set up a Pogo PWA app for smoother play)

At times one of these fixes does the trick, and other times it takes a combination.

Because Pogo runs inside your browser, your device and its settings directly affect whether games load. Keeping everything updated, clean, and properly set up makes all the difference and these checks help keep your device healthy and secure overall, not just for Pogo. If you run into issues while playing, here are some guides to help you along the way!
