Footplants: Less control but Better looking?

Devs,

Footplants suddenly became heavily momentum based and no longer offer the same amount of control that they recently did.

I'm a footplant connisuer.

Things that aren't possible anymore:

  1. Footplant in 1 spot off a rail and come back down to grind it. With any movement you will just continue forward after the footplant. It feels bad fr.
  2. Footplant and change your direction. I used to footplant stall and PICK which way I wanted to go. Now, it's heavily momentum based and offers way less control.

It just doesn't feel good. Personally I'd rather have the old footplants back with the jank foot every once in awhile because at least I could control it. This feels like a set animation that happens in 1 direction (forward)

When I first saw your post and tried to recreate a line I did before the footplants 2.0 where I footplanted and dropped back onto the same plywood sheet ramp - I just couldn't do it! This is good feedback because control is uber-important to all of us, I have total faith they will  work their magic at some point.

I tried yesterday for an hour to skate slowly towards a 1 foot ledge ollie up towards it and I tried to footplant off the ledge going back the way I came. This is literally impossible now. No longer can I footplant stall little objects around the world now because I have to go over everything I footplant now.

They were perfect the way they were minus the slight animation dip beneath the floor every once in awhile.

I really hope the Devs see this because they just feel so bad now.

I would rather have footplants that I can fully control. (Footplant 0 input go straight up, footplant forward go forward, left right etc.)

I personally like the new footplants and they're way more consistent and useful, but the older footplants definitely did have a certain je ne sais quoi in the way that they were totally unpredictable and, like you say, could push you all sorts of directions.

Maybe they will be able to strike a compromise or add a setting that allows for you to sort of pogo yourself where you want to go, or maybe the rotation of the skater will let you footplant a certain direction, but I have a feeling that we will be able to figure out an alternative or new tech that will allow us to emulate it to a degree
