Re: Battlefront 2 Crashing to game menu Xbox one X

@DkSmoody

Do you happen to be installing the game on an external hard drive and/or have anything plugged into the USB slot like a dongle or controller charger?

For external hard drives I've seen some issues where part of the game is on the internal and external, causing the game to pull data from two different sources which ultimately crashes the game. Some external drives have compatibility issues as well.

    @EA_Blueberry Hi!
Thanks for the reply, I have nothing plugged into the Xbox other than power, hdmi and optical audio out.
I just use the internal hard drive, no externals.

I played arcade mode offline and it freezes but doesn’t kick me to the home screen but still unplayable!

Can you try clearing the local and cloud game saved data? Go to My Games & Apps>Highlight SWBFII>Press Start>Manage Game>Clear Saved data.

Then power cycle your console and try launching it again. Let me know how that goes.

    Xbox One:

    Power Cycle the Console

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 10 seconds.

Important Be sure to wait 10 seconds. This step resets the power supply.

    1. Plug the console power cable back in.
    2. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

@EA_Blueberry Just tried this with no success ☹️ when I went to play the game it asked me to free up space so I though the issue was found! Freed 50 gig when it asked for 700mb.
But first game I joined I didn’t get past the character intro walk whilst starting a game ☹️

Do you have the Xbox in an open space where it's well ventilated and dust free? What are your Xbox power settings set to because I'm wondering if the system is having some trouble keeping the game running.

Generally when a game closes down and you are returned to the Xbox Homescreen, that's a caching issue so it's very important to unplug the power cable from the Xbox so that can be refreshed. It has to be unplugged for a good 5 minutes.

It might be worth giving that step another try to see if you have any positive results the next go-around. Thanks for getting back and keep us updated.

@EA_Blueberry Thanks for the fast reply. It’s not crashing to Xbox dashboard, only the games home screen! The Xbox is on a laminate floor with nothing around it so no overheating should happen. Xbox power settings are on “instant on” not energy saving.

Can you try changing the server ping site under your in-game settings and then try to connect to a match?

@EA_Blueberry turned Xbox off and unplugged for 20 mins, My default ping was 29ms and seems like that was Germany as was also 29ms.
Switched it to the next best that was a us server at 93ms and tried to join match, it’s now froze to the point where it won’t even kick me back to the home screen 😩

How much free space do you have available on your internal hard drive?

Can you try removing your Gamertag from the console and re-add it to clear up any corrupted cloud data:

Here's how to delete your profile from your Xbox One console:

    1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    2. Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.
    3. Select the account you want to remove (the one that’s experiencing the gameplay issue), and then select Remove.

Once the account has been removed from your console, download your profile again to create a fresh version of the account data. Here's how:

    • Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    • Select your gamerpic in the upper-left corner of the screen, move all the way down and select Add new.
    • Type in the email address and password that you use to access your Microsoft account (the same account that you just removed).

Important Make sure that you do not select Get a new account unless that’s what you want to do. If you select this, you will create a brand-new Microsoft account.

    1. The console will walk you through some account setup steps, like privacy info, sign-in and color preferences, etc. Follow the console prompts until you are returned to the Home screen.
  • @DkSmoody Also just tried installing the game on my normal Xbox and works perfectly, just seems to not work on the xb1x

Do you have a disc copy or digital version? Is there any way you can try to load up the game on the X under a different Gamertag to see if it's account related? I'm concerned now that if it loaded up on the other Xbox One the Xbox One "X" may need a factory reset.

@EA_Blueberry It’s a digital version, it was uploaded by the same gamer tag on each Xbox. I can’t install it from another gamer tag as it’s owned by that account :/

Gotcha. I'd hate to ask you to factory reset since you would have re-install everything and re-add all your settings, but is that something you could consider?

Reaching out to Xbox Support is always a good call when there are crashes happening on the console in the event they are aware of any settings that need to be adjusted to avoid this.
