Unable to install SWTOR

I ran into an issue on my laptop where the setup file would not install the game, getting hooked on installing the Visual C++ but never getting past that. I tried it a couple of times and it finally worked. I am not trying to install the game on my desktop, but retrying the download/install doesn't work. I tried setting up McAfee to accept it, but that didn't work. Running it under administrator, and that didn't work. Running out of options. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for the help. The issue with the graphics occurred when I tried to adjust the resolution in game. It would freeze up the program and not allow me to alt-tab into another program. It was also setting my computer graphics to the same. That shouldn't happen. My work-around was to set it to window mode and those issues seemed to go away once I set the system graphics to where they should be. I still need Steam running for smooth operation, which seems like a waste of resources, but doesn't seem to be affecting my system much. Anyway, thanks again!

  • Now try installing the standalone as steam install also installs the required support packages

When you say steam is messing if you mean when starting the game ? check the client_setting file resolution settings as mentioned in this guide

Maybe I misunderstood, but I downloaded the Stream app and was able to download and install SWTOR, but Stream seems to be messing with my graphics some, and it needs to be running to allow the game to run right. Not sure this is a viable option, but I have the game on the computer.
