Relic Delta – The Solution to a problem that doesn’t exist

As a guild leader of a top 100 guild, here are my thoughts regarding this Relic Delta situation. Please articulate to the players “What is the problem you are trying to solve”? I work with large projects in industry and I realize there are Sunk Costs that cannot be recovered. However, Is this strategy to “fix” the perceived problem a success if a large section of the player base disappears?

 

I have asked my player base which is a combination of whales, dolphins, and basic monthly spenders ranging from 12M GP – 15M GP what they think about this, and it is literally 100% negative. The players don’t understand why this Relic Delta is needed as it seems you are rolling out a change to a problem that doesn’t exist.

 

The primary frustration is that this change nullifies the years of Modding and Strategic Relic upgrades and years of roster effort and pretty much eliminates creative play (which is the most enjoyable part of the game). I doubt a developer may understand that sentiment, but it is VERY important to the players. These are players that love the game and most are sick over this. I already have messages from players stating they will retire from the game if this rolls out.

 

The best suggestions that came in from my guild were:

  1. Simply increase the mastery of Relic 9 from 10 to 15.
  2. Increment certain stats on the current higher Relics.
  3. Roll out a new Relic 10. Whales will spend on that, leaving the rest of the player base to continue their progression as-is.

 

I personally think that any of those, and many others in the forums, are easy fixes to the problem without introducing MANY MANY more issues to the game that would come from this Relic Delta strategy, and hopefully leave the player base intact.

 

At this point you have a choice to make.

  1. Continue ahead with this flawed approach that the overwhelming majority of the player base does not even want - and risk a substantial percentage of players dropping out of the game.
  2. OR Cease and Desist all work on this change (unfortunately eat the costs already spent) and work on a different approach to solving your perceived issue.

  • Do you know how else this fictitious problem could have been solved?

    Apply filters to GAC based on the weight — win rate — donate.

    But no, that's too complicated for EA.

    Or they could have just reset all the values to a new base line similar to Blizzard and continued to profit without harming the entire player base.

    I completely agree. They had plenty of options for how to make money and how to solve this “problem.”

  • I agree with everything you said — great analysis.
    They probably won’t listen, hoping the larger player base will spend more to rush relics and stay competitive.

    Delta has also caused constant freezing in battles, especially with heavy teams like Bo-Katan. We’re even losing fights because the game locks up and the timer runs out. It’s absurd.

    They pushed a data- and graphics-heavy update onto a 2015 engine, and now everything is breaking.

    Imagine $1 packs of value items in the store or $4.99 memes like Ugnaught and Lobot.  They could have made a killing but instead went short term stupid instead of long term vision. $30 for StRomtrooper Luke, we promise he’ll be good for your Stormpooper Han and Princess Leia in 3v3.  

    Has anyone seen what a few Kraken have paid so far on discord or Reddit?!?  And how disappointed they are with what they got.

    Nov 25 Update: There are 5 players in my guild that are about to throw in the towel based on Relic Delta. I have consulted other guild leaders and they have approx the same numbers which equates to ~10% of our players (and those are just the ones we know of). I have tried my best to postpone them leaving the game and they will stay through RotE, but if something is not done to lessen the effect (or rollback) Relic Delta they are done. I write this as a guild leader who loves the game and the players and it saddens me deeply to know that if Relic Delta is not scrapped by CG, the game in its entirety will die. As more players drop it will be a cascading effect on guilds around the world. To think the months just prior were great with some new ships and bounty hunters. Its sad to see how a terrible concept that the vast majority of players hated was rolled out anyway, and could cause the game to implode as players literally just stop playing. Relic 10 is frankly needed (although the colosseum has much to be desired) but the removal of the fun in GAC due to Relic Delta is the core issue for so many. For the sake of the game consider rolling back RD and re-evaluate the concept down the road. 

    Nov 20 2025: It has been over a week now and the player morale is worse than what I feared. The Relic Delta that CG stated was necessary is causing players to quit after years, and these are not FTP. Seeing now how difficult it is to obtain a Relic 10, most players will only get a handful in an entire year. With that said CG, the logic that your presented a month ago doesn't match reality. Since the number of Relic 10s is going to be so minor outside of Kyber 1, the Relic Delta which is destroying player morale, is not needed at all. It might be another 2-3 years before another Relic level is released and at that time you could re-evaluate the impact of Relic Delta. This is NOT the time to implement this change if you care about keeping the player base intact. Relic 10 should have been rolled out independent of Relic Delta. I fear you have mere weeks to decide to roll back Relic Delta before player retirements increase.

  • And now that Relic Delta is in the game, allegedly, it doesn't even seem to be working 100% across all modes of the game.  Wasn't it supposed to work in conquest?  In TB?  Because sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.  In conquest my R8/9 teams are still getting smashed (at full stamina) by some R4 teams.  Shouldn't those R4 teams being doing far less damage?  Not 35,000 on a basic?  How about in TB where R5&6 are still hitting my R9 characters fairly heftily.  I'm not losing missions, but I don't see any difference on Bracca right now.  (Not to mention the garbage DS fleet missions that are stupidly overcharged for Phase ONE and TWO of TB.)

    Maybe y'all need to rewind to like 2022 or so when CG was run by gamers making a game that was fun?  There was silly stuff too, sure, but it wasn't revenue-chasers making decisions, player interaction was better, and CG wasn't so blatant about P2W mechanics like the current rubbish in Coliseum.  (Seriously, who thought this was a good idea to implement?  EA?  Because that would make sense.)

  • Now it is clear — the goal of relic delta to hinge your progress and force you to pay for new relic materials in a form of auction in new „gaming“ Era mode. It all deliberate and made to squeeze last cents from us before game die or new owner takes over.
