Chinese Translation Suggestions 20241115
Good to see Jedi Sabine and Huyang joining our game! Here are some suggestions of Chinese translation I found for last several months' update.
1. Kanan Jarrus's name
Used to be 凯南·贾鲁斯 which is right. But now it became 凯南·贾奴斯, 奴 is SLAVE, a bad word you know.
2. Ezra Bridger's Name
Used to be 埃兹拉·布里杰, but now 艾斯纳·包力格 is not like the pronunciation and those words are like from a peasant's name, who lives in a valley.
3. Great Mothers' Majik Storm
It is called 马吉克风暴 now. 马吉克 is like the pronunciation of Majik. But in Chinese we have the words for those strange magic things, 秘术. so this can be called as 秘术风暴.
4. Captain Enoch's Arbiter of Decay
It is called 衰减仲裁者 now. For Enoch is who leads the way to join the Decay Army, he is more like a harbinger of the undead soldiers. I guess 破败先驱 is more suitable for his role. 破败 is for Decay and 先驱 is for Arbiter.
5. Shin Hati's Fierce Foray
It is called 激烈突袭 now and no problem. But I noticed that Foray also says the first time to do. Like a padawan who is filled with courage and strikes fiercely and recklessly. We have a similar phrase to describe this, 一鼓作气. I think it is better, but both are good.
6. Mercenary's Soldier of Fortune
It is called 命运佣兵 now. Fortune means fate命运 or wealth财富, but here I prefer those soldiers are aiming on claiming more wealth. We have a phrase to say those who only can see money even in massive dangers, 唯利是图.
7. Night Trooper's Share My Suffering
It is called 分担痛苦. 分担 more means equilibrate, like both take 1/2 of suffering in total. We also have a phrase to say feel others' pain, 殊途同归.
I worked on translating SW for Chinese fans for years, especially the SWGOH. Hope my effort could help more people like our game.
