Sims 3 crashes when booting up

Hi,

I don't know why, but I downloaded some stuff on the Modthesims website and then weird stuff has been happening with my Sims game when I boot it up. Initially, it is certain mods not activating, so I tried removing/deleting some downloaded package files assuming that the download capacity is full, but now, my game crashes upon the opening loading screen; and it's been consistent.

FYI, I do have the NSFW mod K**ky World and I know u guys say in the past that it causes problems to the game, but I have removed it from my Mods => Package file & deleted the caches, but it still crashes.

Appreciate the help in advance.

  • poppingmythik  I meant move the entire Sims 3 folder for now and see whether the game works.  If it does work, you  can start adding your existing files to the new folder and testing; if it doesn't, we look elsewhere for the source of the issue.

As for the files and folders that I said would be replaced, they're not mods or cc or probably anything you've paid attention to, just stuff like Version.tag and tslus.bin and ContentPatch.

  • poppingmythik  Sorry for the late reply; I've been away from the forums off and on for a while.

Please try a clean user folder, and if that works, start adding your content to the new folder.

The KW mod affects saves even after it's been removed, and it can or at least previously could corrupt an entire user folder.  I don't know whether that still happens, but in any case, a clean folder is a simple test.

It's all good. Just glad I followed up.
You mean the mod package folder?

  • poppingmythik  I mean the entire Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.  Removing the entire thing may be overkill, but it's a quick and informative test, and many of the files and folders are extraneous in that the game will recreate them as necessary.

Do I need to redownload those package files, or could I just move them out of the package folder & put them back in?

I've removed all the mods, and I've reintroduced them one by one and identified the ones that's causing problems. It's a long-relatively-tedious process but I've finally reintroduced back all of my package files and my game is running running relatively smoothly (or at least it's playable; as playable as buggy vanilla Sims 3 can get)! Thanks.
